Hey punx! So I wanted to take a minute to let you know what's been going on, since last we talked.

I've been working this week to get our new website up and going. It actually would have gone live today... had I not found a serious server misconfiguration affecting our live stream. While the stream has stayed up all week, this only belied the fact that it was bouncing all over the server cluster trying to remain stable. It became clear I had to rebuild the stream on a new platform, and quickly, because for every hour the stream remained where it has been, the station faced hosting costs at least 4x normal due to the wasted cluster resources.

Anyway, I'm about to turn on the new platform and retire the current one. I do need to warn everyone, however, that while the new platform is settling in, we will have very little control over what plays. Expect some weird randomness overnight tonight and even well into Sunday.

Hey punx! Jeff here. Big changes are happening behind the scenes at SSCR Tampa, and it’s time to fill you all in.

If you’ve noticed a few quick tweaks or a brief shift in the matrix lately, there’s a good reason for it. Two weeks ago, I lost my day job. While sudden changes are never easy, they have a funny way of forcing your hand toward progress.

Because of this, we had to move quickly to cut down our operating costs and ensure the station's independence. We’ve officially migrated the entire SSCR Tampa infrastructure away from AWS and over to Google Cloud Platform. It was a massive technical heavy-lift done on short notice, but the station is now leaner, more agile, and completely secure.

The best part? This transition clears the runway for what’s next. SSCR Tampa isn't slowing down. In fact, we're gearing up for a massive second half of the year. Here is a look at what’s coming down the pike:

A fully relaunched website built for a better listening and browsing experience, that will make our Trending the Bay show a lot easier to follow.

Custom app development so you can take the station anywhere seamlessly.

The SSCR Tampa Deep Cuts YouTube series & podcast, officially launching this December to dive way deeper into the music we love.

We are also quietly working on a much bigger vision for independent broadcasting: Something called the IAFMA (Inter American Free Media Alliance). Stay tuned for more details on that soon; we’re building it to help independent, alternative media stay completely free from corporate control.

Welcome [back] to the digital airwaves, XCSB Cleveland!

On October 3, 2025, at 11:16 am, WCSB as we knew it ceased to exist — ripped from the airwaves due to a closed-door deal between Cleveland State University and Ideastream. Someone tuning in to 89.3 FM on their radio dial, expecting to have their mind blown at any moment by discovering their new favorite song, would now exclusively hear jazz of the most middle-of-the-road variety.

Jazz, like FM radio, was a distinctly American invention — one that, for a time, championed innovation and pushed the boundaries of the format, before later succumbing to mainstream America's capitalistic tendencies, repeatedly "streamlining" their art form until it was practically unrecognizable, devoid of passion and truly irrelevant.

There are still innovators and boundary pushers out there, though.

On October 3, 2025, at 11:16 am, WCSB as we knew it ceased to exist — but on March 1, 2026, at 11:16 am, XCSB starts a brand new journey, one built entirely on community, as well as the omnipresent belief that there's just so much cool music out there that it would be downright cruel not to share it.

It's official! Our weatherbot, Ryan, just called for a chance of snow in Tampa this evening between 10 and 11 pm. It's not a mistake: I personally just verified this with the National Weather Service. Which means... as the Station Wizard for SSCR Tampa, I (Jeff) am here to announce:

SSCR Tampa is forecasting a chance for snow tonight. In Tampa, Florida. Right on the shores of Tampa Bay... and this broken down van on the banks of the Hillsborough River. 😆
