On episode 8, June Chang discusses some of the available rental assistance programs for low-income residents.
NYC is notorious for having some of the highest housing costs in the country and with the pandemic, more and more people are losing their income which is only magnifying the housing crisis.
One program is SOTA which places tenants living in homeless shelters in NYC in approved units in ANYPLACE in the US. The benefit to landlord is they get paid one full year of rent upfront.
The other is CITYFHEPS which provides assistance on a monthly basis to families with children and/or survivors of domestic violence that are in NYC shelters. This program is only available for landlords in the NYC 5 boroughs.
If you’re a landlord, do you know about these programs?
