On Tuesday, April 22, Heydi Sanchez Tejeda was detained at a routine ICE appointment in Tampa. She has not received so much as a ticket over her 5 years in the United States.
Despite working, paying taxes, being married to a U.S. citizen, and having applied for residency two years ago, ICE abruptly separated her from her husband and one-year old daughter, whom she is still nursing. Within 48 hours, she was shackled and flown to Cuba without the chance to defend herself or to say goodbye to her family and baby.
The Tampa Bay community stands with this family and rejects the government’s ongoing kidnapping of residents that pose absolutely no threat to our community, separating vulnerable, law-abiding families. Taking a nursing baby from their mother is an egregious human rights violation. Trump’s mass deportations are inhumane, lack due process, and contradict our core values as a community.
Join to demand they return Heydi to her baby and family!
This is a family friendly event!
