✔️Primary responsibilities: Identifying ideal clients, working with our team to develop marketing proposals, presenting & closing proposals, providing regular recaps, developing long term relationships with clients

✔️ This is a 100% commission flex position with industry leading commission percentages, meaning you work around your own availability and other responsibilities. You support team is available 8am-5pm M-F, but you’ll work whatever works best for you…and however many hours works best for your goals

Are you on a path to ruin your social media? It’s possible.

Far too often we speak with businesses & brands whose social media focus has disproportionately become being hung up on views, likes, shares, comments & follows instead of generating revenue.

They spend thousands of dollars & countless hours generating content that produces social engagement, but has nothing to show for revenue growth.

When engagement becomes the focus without revenue being the priority, we call this “vanity metrics”. They make you feel good about yourself, but in the end they are meaningless and will destroy your social media accounts.

Why is the focus on vanity metrics harmful to your social following? Simple. You can’t have two “number one” focuses. You can’t serve 2 gods. If you are creating content only to generate engagement, you aren’t creating content to generate revenue.

Don’t get me wrong, the right kind of engagement on social media CAN lead to revenue growth. We’ve cultivated millions of dollars in revenue from social media marketing. But take note, that revenue came from engaging the RIGHT customers, not simply getting engagement from a high quantity of customers. There has to be a balance, and the number one priority has to be on the human, not the engagement.

Focus on creating content that speaks to your best, most ideal customer in a way that isn’t only pursuing a click, like, comment or share and one that creates a meaningful lasting impact to elevate your brand, not simply your social metrics.

Have you ever searched for something online and then for weeks keep seeing ads for either that item or service or something similar? 🙌🏻

Of course you have. That’s the essence of keyword targeting. It’s actually pretty simple.

You go online to your favorite search engine, and let’s say, start searching for new trends in kitchen cabinets. Or maybe you search for local plumbers who can install a new garbage disposal.

Then, like magic, display ads and videos start following you around everywhere you go introducing you to new businesses that remodel kitchens, or plumbers that service your area. You see the ads while checking March Madness scores. You see the ads while checking the weather. You see the ads while you binge YouTube videos.

This type of advertising tactic is actually very productive for our clients because of how engaging & relevant the ads are for consumers. They have a higher click rate, higher engagement rate and higher ROI….because they are meaningful to the consumer while they are in a searching & buying process.

They aren’t random. It’s not just “spray & pray” like top-of-funnel branding is. This type of tactic is near the bottom of funnel (like PPC/SEM) because it’s only triggered when the consumer takes action that begins with a search.

What type of engagement is the best to expect from your marketing? Calls, clicks, comments, shares, or form fills?

Ask most business owners this question, and their answer is typically a resounding “increased revenue” 😆

We get it!

While experienced marketers totally understand this response, there are numerous other measurable results that can and should provide guidance as to whether or not a marketing campaign is working.

When establishing goals for our clients marketing campaigns, we typically start with where in the sales funnel / customer journey we are focused on communicating.

Bottom of the funnel tactics, like PPC/SEM, should be generating clicks to calls. More top of funnel tactics like billboards or digital Tv 📺 ads can be strong for generating website or social media page traffic.

The truth is, over the long term, all engagement can be valuable to building a brand AND generating revenue, if the creative & the frequency of the message is strong.

Are you getting good results on one platform but not another? Here’s why:

1. Every platform has a different algorithm
2. Users consume each platform differently
3. Time matters - peak use periods vary by platform
4. User demographics vary by platform

The fact is that the exact same piece of content posted to multiple social platforms may produce wildly different results for any or all of these reasons…..or in some cases - there is no good reason. 😮

This is why we recommend to our clients that they always continue testing content on all relevant platforms, while at the same time understanding who your audience is and how best to reach them.

No need to freak out when a piece of content doesn’t produce massive viral results, and don’t get hooked on the drug of seeing your vanity metrics spike when you do have success.

If you aren’t testing your ad creative with multiple variations, you are more than likely missing out on tremendous potential. Here’s why….

✔️ Ads that perform poorly and ads that perform well both can benefit from testing variations in pictures, video, font, font size, ad copy, and colors….oftentimes, even slight adjustments can make a huge impact in how an ad performs with social algorithms and consumer interest and engagement.

Typically we find that most advertisers only focus on testing creative as a function of trying to improve underperformance. We believe that’s only 50% of the opportunity.

A recent new client example highlights how important testing can be for all campaigns. Last month we identified several ads that were strongly outperforming for our client and we made 5 new variations of each of those ads and closely tested them for a week. During the test, one of the five new variations dramatically outperformed all of the other ads by 6x - including the original ads that were previously the top performers.

Not only did the new creative drive higher results, but the cost to run the ad dropped significantly (50%) as well - meaning MORE consumers saw it. It was a DOUBLE WIN! 🏆

The message is clear - testing ad creative should not only be used to improve underperformance, but to also improve strong performing ads as well.

Earlier this month, Instagram rolled out a significant change to the way images appear on your profile grid - now focusing on portrait sizes instead of squares, in an effort to improve the aesthetic and engagement by modeling after TikTok.

If this update caught you off guard & you’ve been posting the old sized square pictures - going to your profile may be a little upsetting seeing your content now displayed in portrait as important parts of your pictures may no longer be visible when viewing your profile grid, which changes the overall look and feel of your profile page.

Here’s how to deal with it:

▪️Old posts - go to your profile grid, click on the picture you want to adjust, click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner above the picture, and choose the “adjust preview” option.

Choosing adjust preview will change the displayed size of your picture - shrinking it to feature it as a portrait without cutting off the sides. Doing this will add white space around your picture, but the entire picture will be shown. Depending on your content, this may or may not be a good idea - test it and see.

▪️Going forward- all new posts should be created in portrait mode using a 4:5 aspect ratio of 1080x1350 pixels.

Takeaway:
▪️Shifting your content from square to to portrait gives you more space for higher quality visuals, a more modern aesthetic, and room to get creative for standard posts, carousels or infographics.

What is better marketing?

We get this question all the time. And the answer is far easier than most small business owners and even major corporations make it out to be.

Simply put, better marketing is having a better relationship plan with your customers.

Regardless of the size of your company, better marketing connects your business to your existing & future customers with regularity and consistency to promote a positive connection, and encourage purchase consideration when they are in the buying process.

The key word in that definition is “process”.

Today, consumers are armed with a search tool (the internet) that allows them to begin the information discovery phase a lot sooner than generations past, without ever stepping inside a store or calling a business.

Additionally, the process itself can last longer than it ever has as consumers linger in the consideration phase, searching, reading reviews, looking at options, and leaving their browser tabs open for days and weeks to return to.

Better marketing connects to your customers wherever they are in the buying process in a way that is meaningful to them, not focused only on your sales goals. Because the truth about marketing, just like relationships is that when you have a good one, you’ll be their top priority if you make them your top priority.

Everyone knows this, but yet most businesses aren’t taking advantage of it with paid ads on facebook. Why?

Top 7 reasons businesses fail with paid ads on Facebook & Instagram:

1. Tried once and failed, so decided they don’t work

2. Didn’t see their own ad, so believed they weren’t running

3. Don’t understand how to track ads conversions

4. Tried to micro-target when they should have cast a wide net

5. “Test” period was not long or deep enough

6. Creative / Ad copy sucked

7. Audience targeting wasn’t correct

I’ve personally been buying Facebook ads since 2009, when I bought them for my first business. I was paying .28 cents per 1000 people they reached and they worked tremendously. Ask me if you’d like to see my dashboard - I’d be happy to show you!
