Today, as Major James Capers Jr. receives the Medal of Honor, we honor an American hero whose story has been decades in the making.

Major Capers has lived the kind of life that sounds impossible until you understand the man, the Marine, and the spirit within him.

In Vietnam, during the 1967 battle at Phu Loc, Capers was wounded multiple times while leading his men through a fight most people would not have survived. But even then, his focus stayed on the Marines around him: calling in support, holding his team together, and refusing to leave them behind.

For decades, his story has carried through the people who knew it, told it, and refused to let it fade.

He would go on to serve 23 years in the Marine Corps, earning three Purple Hearts, the Silver Star, and two Bronze Stars. He became a Mighty 25 honoree, a symbol of courage to the military community, and now, nearly six decades later, he is receiving the nation’s highest military honor.

For MIC, We Are The Mighty, and Recurrent Military & Defense, this moment is personal.

Our team has had the privilege of helping share Major Capers’ story over the years. Today, we are proud to stand beside him, his family, his fellow Marines, and everyone who never stopped fighting for his legacy — helping show the world the full measure of his courage.

Major James Capers Jr., thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and the example you continue to set.

Today we celebrate Flag Day and the 251st Birthday of the United States Army.

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. Two years earlier, on June 14, 1775, the U.S. Army was established to defend the nation that flag would come to represent.

From the flag we serve under to the Soldiers who have carried it forward for 251 years, today is a reminder of the service, sacrifice, and unity behind both.

Happy Flag Day and Happy Birthday, U.S. Army.

Today we celebrate 251 years of the United States Army.

Since June 14, 1775, America’s Army has played a vital role in the story of this nation. Before there was a Declaration of Independence, there were Soldiers standing ready to defend the nation, its people, and the values that would help shape America.

That legacy continues today through the Soldiers, families, veterans, and leaders who carry it forward.

Happy 251st Birthday, U.S. Army.

This We’ll Defend.

The military community has always been built through storytelling, the stories we lived, the ones we carried home, and the ones that keep us connected long after service.

Lucky Strike is inspired by true events from World War II and follows one soldier trapped behind enemy lines, forced to rely on courage, ingenuity, and spy craft to make it home.

We are partnering with Roadside Attractions for special FREE advance screenings near select military communities June 15 and 16. (Reserve your seat through the link in the comments.)

For veterans, spouses, creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders across this community, stories like this are a reminder of why connection still matters.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. One ticket per registrant. Movie is rated R.

We’ll go first.

Without wingmen, most of us never would have made it through year after year of service. It was the person to our left and right who understood what we were carrying without needing the whole story, the one who heard us out when life got heavy, gave us advice, tough love, a ride, a laugh, a place to crash, or just enough of an open ear to keep going.

Those are the people who helped us get across the finish line.

The military community is beautiful because none of us really do this alone. We push each other, we check on each other, we call each other out, we carry each other through seasons that would have broken us by ourselves.

That spirit is a huge part of what Military Influencer Conference is built around, the same connection so many of us loved about service, brought into one place with veterans, spouses, creators, leaders, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and brands who still believe in this community.

Tag the wingman who got you through it, and we'll see you this September!
