🔬🌿 A component in cannabis can effectively reverse signs of fatty liver disease.

Scientists have identified that CBD and CBG, two non-psychoactive components of cannabis, can effectively reverse signs of fatty liver disease and metabolic dysfunction.

In a recent study involving obese mice, just four weeks of treatment led to a significant reduction in liver fat and a marked improvement in cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Notably, CBG emerged as a powerful tool for boosting insulin sensitivity and reducing overall body fat, offering a potential breakthrough for a condition that affects one in three adults globally and currently lacks approved pharmacological treatments.

The research highlights a unique biological mechanism: these compounds do not rely on traditional cannabinoid receptors but instead function by increasing levels of phosphocreatine to help cells manage energy more efficiently. While the results provide a promising roadmap for future metabolic therapies, researchers caution that the study is in its early stages. The findings were observed in a laboratory setting using injected doses, meaning further clinical trials are necessary to determine if these benefits will translate to humans using standard oral CBD or CBG products.

What are your thoughts on this potential new avenue for metabolic therapies? Do you think we'll see more research in this area?

🇩🇪🤔 Every country that ignored illegal immigration is now dealing with the consequences.

Alice Weidel is the leader of the Alternative for Germany party, which became the second strongest political force in the country after the 2025 federal election with around 20% of the vote. Despite that result, every other party in Germany has refused to form a coalition with the AfD, calling it too extreme.

Weidel has repeatedly spoken out against what she calls uncontrolled immigration, blaming it for rising crime, cultural tensions, and a failing asylum system. Her critics say her rhetoric is dangerous and mirrors far-right movements across Europe. Her supporters say she's the only one willing to address what mainstream politicians have been avoiding for years.

What makes her even more unusual is her personal life. She's openly gay, lives with her Sri Lankan-born partner in Switzerland, and is raising two children. It's a combination that confuses both her allies and her opponents.

What factors contribute to the rise of such political figures? How does personal identity intersect with political ideology in public life?

🕊️🤔 They nominated a wartime president for the Nobel Peace Prize. The debate is already intensifying.

Professor Dag Øistein Endsjø of the University of Oslo has formally nominated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian people for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. As a university professor, he is eligible to submit nominations. His argument is that Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression has helped protect peace across Europe.

The nomination goes beyond Zelensky as an individual. It recognizes a nation that has been resisting occupation and conflict since 2014, especially following the full-scale invasion in 2022. Endsjø argues that Ukraine’s resistance has broader implications for European security and democratic stability.

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2026 will be announced on October 10, with hundreds of nominees typically considered each year.

The nomination has sparked debate over whether leadership during wartime can be seen as contributing to peace, a question likely to shape discussions around this year’s award.

Can leadership during a defensive war be considered an act for peace? What are your thoughts on this nomination?

⚖️📰 5 felony counts. 4 years of abuse. 6 months in jail. Then home to a $1.5 million lakefront house in Texas.

Robert Morris, founder of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas — one of the largest megachurches in America — was released from an Oklahoma jail Tuesday after serving 6 months for child s*xual abuse. Morris, 64, pleaded guilty last October to five felony counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child.

The abuse began on Christmas Day 1982 when Cindy Clemishire was 12 years old and Morris was a 22-year-old traveling evangelist staying in her family's home. It lasted more than four years. When Morris resigned from Gateway in June 2024, the church initially described it as "inappropriate s*xual behavior" with a "young lady." Clemishire has disputed that framing, saying she was a child who was s*xually abused. An internal investigation found multiple church elders and staff knew about the abuse for years.

Morris received a 10-year suspended sentence, must register as a lifetime s*x offender, and paid $270,000 in restitution. He will serve probation at his $1.5 million lakefront home in Texas. Morris formerly served on President Trump's evangelical advisory board and hosted Trump at his Dallas church in 2020. A civil trial against Morris and Gateway Church is set for June 2026.

What are your thoughts on the sentencing in this case? How can institutions better protect vulnerable individuals?

🩺💡 Multiple large-scale studies conducted worldwide have consistently shown no link between vaccines and autism.

Despite overwhelming scientific consensus from authorities like the CDC and WHO, claims linking vaccines to various health risks sometimes circulate online. The spread of unverified information can create fear and reduce vaccination coverage, putting children and communities at risk for preventable diseases.

It’s always important to rely on verified, peer-reviewed studies and expert consensus when evaluating vaccine safety. Vaccines remain one of the most effective ways to protect public health, and extraordinary claims should be examined critically and carefully verified with reputable sources.

What are some of the best ways to find reliable health information? How do you approach conversations about sensitive science topics with friends or family?

🧠🔬 54 studies. 45 years of data. The largest review ever. The result: no evidence ma*****na helps anxiety, depression or PTSD. It may even make them worse.

The largest-ever review of cannabis and mental health, published in The Lancet Psychiatry, found no evidence ma*****na helps with anxiety, depression or PTSD — the three most common reasons people use it. Researchers analyzed 54 trials spanning 1980–2025. They warned it could make mental health worse by increasing the risk of psychosis and addiction.

About 27% of Americans and Canadians aged 16–65 have used cannabis medically. Half use it for mental health. But the science hasn't kept up — for depression, not a single controlled trial existed. A Yale psychiatrist who conducted a separate review reached the same conclusion: "There's a big gap between the real world and the evidence."

Some experts disagree. A Johns Hopkins researcher said some patients "realize tremendous benefit." But the lead author was direct: "For a lot of people using medical cannabis, I don't think that is the case." Limited evidence suggested possible benefits for insomnia and cannabis dependency — but the quality was low.

Does this large-scale review surprise you? What are your thoughts on the gap between public perception and the current scientific evidence?

🌍💬 Benjamin Netanyahu says he is defending democracy, while a Spanish MP warns that if the world fails to act, no one will be safe — two sharply contrasting views of the same conflict.

Spanish MP Ione Belarra said that if the international community does not intervene, Israel’s actions toward Palestinians could become a broader global precedent. In a video shared on her X account, she stated: “If we do not stop Israel in time, it will do to the whole world what it has already done to the Palestinians.”

Belarra, leader of the Podemos party and Spain’s former Minister of Social Rights (2021–2023), has been an outspoken critic of Israel’s actions. After October 7, she began describing the campaign as a “planned genocide” and has called on Spain to cut ties with Israel and support legal action against Benjamin Netanyahu at the ICC.

Her remarks come as the conflict has widened beyond Gaza. The United States and Israel carried out strikes on Iran on February 28, followed by Iranian retaliation across the region. Belarra blamed the U.S. for the escalation and called for the removal of American military bases from Spain.

How does the framing of a conflict by political leaders influence international relations? What are your thoughts on these differing perspectives?

🏛️🔎 Trump Jr.'s firm invested in a rare earth startup. Three months later, his father's Pentagon gave that company $620 million — the largest loan in the Office of Strategic Capital's history. No competitive bidding. No independent review. A congresswoman moved to subpoena him. Republicans shut the hearing down.

Democrats moved to subpoena Donald Trump Jr. on March 25 over $670 million in federal funds awarded to a company his venture capital firm had invested in just three months earlier. Republicans on the House Natural Resources Subcommittee blocked the motion 5-2 and shut down the hearing. Rep. Lauren Boebert moved to adjourn. Chairman Paul Gosar called a recess before the vote.

Trump Jr. is a partner at 1789 Capital, which invested in Vulcan Elements, a North Carolina rare earth magnet startup. In December 2025, the Pentagon's Office of Strategic Capital issued Vulcan a $620 million loan — the largest in the office's history — plus $50 million in equity. Rep. Maxine Dexter said the deal bypassed competitive procurement and an independent technical review after Trump's executive order on minerals waived that requirement. No public record of any conflict-of-interest review or financial disclosure tied to Trump Jr.'s stake exists.

Dexter said: "Donald Trump Jr. must be made to answer whether the president's son illegally profited from his father's presidency." Rep. Jared Huffman backed the subpoena. Democrats noted that at least four companies in 1789 Capital's portfolio received over $735 million in federal contracts in 2025. Trump Jr. and Vulcan deny any White House connection to the funding. The Pentagon says Trump Jr. was not involved in loan discussions. The administration has not responded to a February letter demanding documents on the deals.

The move drew immediate comparisons to the Republican-led Hunter Biden investigation, which lasted two years and resulted in a contempt of Congress vote. Then-Chairman James Comer had declared that a president's "participation in enriching his family is, in a word, abuse of the highest order." Democrats quoted his words back during the hearing. Republicans voted to end it.

What are the best practices for ensuring transparency in government contracts? How important is independent oversight in these situations?

🧠✨ The human brain is constantly changing, and research shows that what you focus on can shape how it functions. This process is known as neuroplasticity, where the brain forms and strengthens connections based on repeated thoughts and behaviors. When you consistently focus on positive experiences, your brain begins to adapt and prioritize similar patterns.

Studies suggest that directing attention toward gratitude, optimism, and positive outcomes can strengthen neural pathways linked to emotional regulation and resilience. Over time, this makes it easier for the brain to notice opportunities, solutions, and moments of happiness instead of stress or negativity.

This does not mean ignoring real challenges, but rather training the brain to balance perspective. Practices like gratitude journaling, mindfulness, and conscious reframing can help reinforce these positive neural circuits. The more often these patterns are used, the stronger they become.

This ability to rewire your brain highlights a powerful truth. Your mental focus is not just a reaction to the world around you, it actively shapes how you experience it. By choosing to focus on the good, you gradually train your brain to find more of it in everyday life.

Have you ever tried practices like mindfulness or journaling? What's one small positive thing you've focused on this week?

⚖️🏘️ A planned Muslim community in Texas just became the most controversial housing project in America.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is fighting to block a planned Muslim community known as EPIC City — a 400-acre development near Dallas with over 1,000 homes, a mosque and a school. Paxton sued the developers for securities fraud, illegal annexation and misuse of investor funds. A judge recently blocked the project's utility board.

Developers say the community would be open to everyone and the legal attacks are religious discrimination. The DOJ investigated and closed the case in June 2025 without charges. CAIR called it an "Islamophobic witch hunt." The project has been rebranded as "The Meadow" and remains in active litigation.

Governor Abbott signed bills in 2025 targeting what officials called "Sharia compounds." Paxton urged the county to reject all future applications. Supporters say it is about enforcing the law. Critics say no Christian development has ever faced this level of scrutiny.

This case touches on zoning laws, religious freedom, and state oversight. What are your thoughts on how these issues should be balanced?
