What happened to the corner of this dresser?

I'm refinishing this dresser, the corner was like this when I started and even got a little worse when I was sanding down the varnish in that section. My question is is this section so worn down it looks like this or is it possible to get down to the grain? Am I stuck with it as is?

USA - how do I find out more about this style of secretary? And how do I ask to make an offer lower?

I am new to antiquing, so please forgive me if I'm asking a really easy question.

I really like this secretary desk. I love that it has personality and it's a great size to put in my entry area of my home. I wanted to learn more about it like was it mass produced or is it a replica. So I reversed googled image it to learn more about history of the style and see if I could find others to determine what a fair price was.

I found this exact piece on an estate auction site purchased for $53. They are asking for $300. How do you approach asking to negotiate? The inside has some issues and I can't open the drawers in the interior.

Can anyone tell me how I could learn more about it? What keywords could I search or could someone direct me to information about it?

What Type of Paint Is this? How to Pick The Right Paint?

We got these chairs for free recently, and as you can see the paint is chipping off. Obviously I am going to chip away the rest of the old paint, but I have no clue what the right type of paint to use after.

Keep in mind my kids will be playing with this, so appreciate if the paint selected can be appropriate for toddlers.

The wood seems to be some kind of multi-core plywood.

Found and restored in northern Spain.

I found it in a house from 1900. I waxed the monkey and cleaned the brass of the gong. I don’t think its origin is Spanish

Unique end table

Found this gorgeous and unique table in a thrift store in Colorado, US. I cannot find anything online about any makers that had the two pieces supporting the tray area at the bottom. Closest I could find looks like this is 120 years old or more. Anyone have any insight into maker or more exact time period? I cleaned her up, but want to restore her fully. Thinking shes mahogany??Thank you!

What am I doing wrong?

Super excited to pick up a coffee table made from an old library card catalog.

Wanted to make it look new-ish and nice again after clearing off the cobwebs and giving it a wipe down with Pledge Multi surface anti microbial cleaner.

Bought Brasso for the first time and spent an hour last night cleaning the brass on two of the drawers. Used a microfiber cloth with Murphy’s Oil Soap spray cleaner to clean the wood.

However, the two drawers I did look…muted? Dull?

What did I do wrong and how can I improve the look of this incredibly cool piece?

What have I gotten myself into

So I just made a post earlier about my new inclination for this type of work and ended up buying the piece with the added mirror. Well, as I returned home, right next door to my house was this other piece I found intriguing and dollied it back to my garage. I decided i’m going to work on this one first since it was free and has lots of learning potential for me. Here it is.

Already have a plan in mind. Time to go study.

Wisconsin USA, the piece has been here for at least 150 years. Long shot, google lens or gemini were no help. Anyone know anything about this piece?

This family has lived in WI, USA for generations. I got it from my god mother who said its from her grand mother. Gemini and google lens said it was a victorian piece but thats about it. Anyone know who made this and how old it is?

Help to identify this antique cabinet in Alberta, Canada

Hello! I recently acquired this hutch (forgive me if that's the wrong term, I don't know much about furniture).

Can anyone help me identify what I have? Age, style, value possibly, what type of wood? Is there a makers mark I could look for? If so, where?

I'm sure this has had some work done to it over the years.

Background info that I have, I don't know whether it is true or not:

This has been passed down through my family in Canada. My parents brought it homeb years and years ago from Sicamous, BC. I'm told this originally comes from Kelowna, BC. Supposedly this was from Father Pandosy's parish; he was one of the first settlers in the Kelowna area.

Honestly that's all the info I have on this.
