This might be one of the most beautiful water adventures in Central Florida. Silver Glen Springs has ridiculously clear turquoise water that flows directly into massive Lake George—Florida’s second-largest lake.

🦷 BEST PLACES TO HUNT

📍 Venice Beach — The famous “Shark Tooth Capital of the World.” Great place for beginners.

📍 Caspersen Beach — One of the most consistently recommended spots around Venice. Search the darker shell beds near the waterline.

📍 Manasota Key — Beautiful Gulf beaches + excellent fossil hunting, especially after rough surf.

📍 Blind Pass Beach — Another great option around the Englewood area. Check shell piles and freshly exposed sand.

📍 Peace River — Forget the beach! Fossil hunters search gravel and riverbed deposits here for shark teeth and other prehistoric fossils.

📍 Amelia Island — Northeast Florida option with shark teeth sometimes washing ashore among shells.

📍 Ponte Vedra Beach — Walk slowly along the shell line, especially around low tide.

📍 Mickler’s Landing — A popular Northeast Florida shark-tooth hunting beach near Ponte Vedra.

🦈 WHAT CAN YOU FIND?

Look for fossil teeth from species such as:
• Megalodon
• Great white relatives
• Mako
• Sand tiger
• Hammerhead
• Other ancient sharks

You may also encounter fossilized ray material and other marine fossils.

🔎 HOW TO SPOT THEM

Shark teeth are often dark gray, brown or black from fossilization. Look for a triangular shape and shiny surface among shells and gravel.
