"Disintegration" (1989) — an album born from Robert Smith's fear of turning 30, and it shows in every note.

Layers of synths, echoing guitars, and lyrics soaked in longing and dread. From the euphoric sprawl of "Plainsong" to the aching beauty of "Pictures of You" and the raw devastation of "The Same Deep Water as You" — this is The Cure at their most cinematic and emotionally naked.
