U.S. 64 briefly closed due to semi-trailer crash

Authorities closed U.S. 64 in both directions Tuesday (Oct. 14) around 2:45 p.m. due to a commercial vehicle crash.

Around 3:15 p.m., motorists on the east side of the road closure were told by law enforcement the closure would extend at least until 3:45. A slick substance spilled on the road way would require cleanup, according to reports from the scene to Taos County Central Dispatch.

Traffic began moving again on U.S. 64 around 3:45 p.m.

Fly Fishing's Female Frontier

Women's Fly Fest drew women from all over New Mexico and as far as Oklahoma to the Rio Grande on a crisp and sunny Sunday (Oct 5). They were casting for trout but also aimed to hook beginners curious about fly fishing.

Fall is an ideal time to fly fish in Northern New Mexico — temperatures are just right for the fish and for the anglers.

Partnering with Artemis and the LOR Foundation, Taos Women Fly Fishing put on their debut event to connect women+ who are interested in conservation and casting.

Citizen of the Year Dr. Ted Schupbach has quietly shaped the fabric of the Taos Community for more than four decades with his commitment to veterinary care and has fundraised and volunteered to distribute food for Shared Table, the twice-monthly food distribution program run by El Pueblito Church, among other philanthropic endeavors.

“Almost everyone here in this room is an unsung hero and it really is true of all of you,” Schupbach said as he accepted the Citizen of the Year award. “We all see a need, and I try to be helpful, where I can. I think everybody here does the same.”
