Look what popped up in the lettuce bed, a stinkhorn fungus!
This bright red mushroom might look strange (and honestly a little gross), but itās part of natureās cleanup crew.
Stinkhorns break down old wood and mulch, returning nutrients back to the soil. The slimy top gives off a funky smell to attract flies, which spread its spores and keep the cycle going.
Some people freak out about mushrooms in their soil, donāt! Itās a sign that your soil is living and doing its job!
So happy I got to see this! I have a list of ones I hope to see one day āØ
