Spencer County, Kentucky is home to so many good, charitable, kind and loving people and this page was started so I would have a platform to continue my support of the community as I was preparing to leave my job at the "Spencer Magnet" newspaper as Publisher/General Manager. Much of the focus is devoted to sharing community information and upcoming events. It is also a forum for sharing pictures of people and places in Spencer County. Your posts to announce events that are open to the public are always welcome! However, this forum is not intended for general advertising of businesses, but if you would like to ask for an exception because your business is celebrating an anniversary or hosting a charitable event, please send a message and I will consider adding it because people enjoy celebrating! If a new business is opening and you wish to let the community know, just send a message or give me a call and I will try in earnest to help you. If you would like to talk with me about a business story, please send a message to me and I will set a convenient time for us to discuss. I sometimes write business features for businesses and organizations that both the business owners and followers of this page have enjoyed. I invite you to feel free to use this page as a forum to share any of your own personal photos or stories, but no direct advertising, please. Just send me a DM if you have an announcement or other that you'd like me to highlight and I will gladly post and push the event! I remain convinced that Spencer County, with its diverse landscape and its population of good and caring people, is one of the best and most beautiful small towns in Kentucky... hands down! Please join us at the Spencer County Public Library this Monday, June 22nd at 6:30pm.
After a brief business portion, we are pleased to announce that our Special Guest Speaker, will be SCHGS Member David Campbell.
Dave Campbell is an adept genealogy researcher, currently looking into his wife's family lineage as well as his own roots. He just may have traced most of the Spencer County families by the time he's finished! Also, Dave does a great job of cleaning tombstones!
Mr. Campbell will be sharing his knowledge of the Green family in the Wakefield area. Wilson Green lived in a house there (now owned by Lora & Woodie Cheek). Wilson's brother, Henry lies in the Green Cemetery on that land.
This promises to be both entertaining and informative, a meeting you won't want to miss!
