DROP EVERYTHING AND READ DAY!

In honor of renowned children’s author Beverly Cleary’s birthday, Saturday, April 12th is National “Drop Everything and Read” (D.E.A.R.) Day!

D.E.A.R. Day is a special reading celebration to remind and encourage families to make reading together on a daily basis a priority. Ramona Quimby, Beverly Cleary’s most popular children’s book character, encounters D.E.A.R. time in Ramona Quimby, Age 8. This storyline was inspired by letters Cleary received from children who participated in “Drop Everything and Read” activities themselves. Their interest and enthusiasm for this unique reading program inspired Mrs. Cleary to provide the same experience to Ramona
