While we were in Utah, we spent a ton of time exploring Kolob Canyons ❤️🌄 Honestly, I think some of our favorite hikes from the whole trip were here. It’s part of Zion, but most people skip this section of the park, which meant way fewer crowds and a much quieter experience 🙌

Since it was only about a five minute drive from where we were staying, we ended up doing a bunch of lunchtime hikes here too 🥾☀️ The red rock views were unreal, and every trail somehow felt peaceful and underrated.

Fun fact: the massive red cliffs in Kolob Canyons are made from Navajo sandstone — the same rock formation that gives so much of southern Utah its incredible colors ❤️ Another fun fact: “Kolob” is a word used in Mormon scripture to describe the “closest heavenly body to God,” which is where the area got its name ✨

Sorry in advance for the photo dump — we’ve been slacking a little over here. 😅 But we finally made it to Zion, and wow… it was even prettier than we expected. We spent the month parked just down the road!

We wandered the shuttle roads a few different times after hikes just to soak in the views, and on our first trip through we even got to watch rock climbers making their way up the cliffs. It was incredible seeing just how tiny they looked against the mountains.

We took Ringo anywhere we could, and he absolutely loved all the paved walking paths and little grassy spots everywhere. He’s still extremely curious about cacti though. 🌵 Every time we stop him from touching one, he glares at us like we’re the bad guys.

We also got approved for the Angel’s Landing hike, and now we completely understand why not everyone makes it to the top. The views were unreal, but those Walter’s Wiggles after the steep incline beside the mountain — before you even get to the chained section — nearly took us out. 😂 Let’s just say we celebrated surviving with pizza afterward.

(Not that we accidentally added a couple extra miles after taking the wrong trail first or anything…)

We’ll share more from our Southern Utah adventures soon, but for now it’s back to Colorado! ❤️
