To address this issue, the Office of Planning launched Commemorate DC, an initiative to ID Washingtonians to honor in DC neighborhoods

We are everyday people of conscience - uniting across faith, race, and generations - to tell President Biden and Congress that they have a choice to make: either uphold the value of all human life by working to de-escalate the violence or continue to support the Israeli government’s massacre of the Palestinian people. Please share the following information from the ACC, with any D.C. Youth ages 14 -24!!!

The Anacostia Coordinating Council’s (ACC), is sponsoring it's Annual "Youth Voices for D.C. Statehood" Competition. The deadline for submissions is Monday, September 18, 2023.

We strongly encourage youth to showcase their talent and submit an entry for one of the categories listed below. Who knows, you could be one of the winners of the cash prizes. So, don’t miss out on an opportunity to win some money!

This competition is open to participants in three distinct categories:

Middle school students
High school students
Young adults up to age 24

The competition invites submissions in various formats, including:

Essay: Up to 500 words
Speech: Up to 2 minutes
Rap video: Up to 2 minutes
Original piece of poetry
TikTok video

In each category (Middle School, High School, Young Adult), there are cash prizes to be won:

Gold prize: $300
Silver prize: $200
Bronze prize: $100
