Grass carp on the brain. I’ve wanted to devote some time to catching a grass carp on the fly rod. One of my local fishing spots has low water and loads of 20lb+ grass carp cruising the shallows. So now is as good a time as any. I’ve caught a ton of common carp on the fly, and that is a pretty challenging feat as it is when targeting them in shallow water with a fly.

Starting with some extremely simple algae and leech flies to see if they’ll eat. They are super spooky, so I ties these weightless and will be running a long thin flouro leader. Plan to rock my 8wt Orvis recon and wade extremely slowly through the area. I have tying videos for these that I’ll post and hopefully some successful fish videos soon.
