On this day in 1990 Garth Brooks was at #1 on the Country singles chart with "Friends in Low Places" written in 1989 by songwriters Earl Bud Lee and Dewayne Blackwell. It was released as the lead single from his album No Fences. The song was named the 1990 Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. Barry Kent plays "Friends in Low Places" this morning at 8:30.
