Meet Our Hometown Hero Nominees! 🚨
We are proud to recognize two incredible men who have dedicated their lives to serving others, both in our community and across the world. Now, it’s YOUR turn to show support by casting your vote!
🔹 Steven Nowicki – Clay County Sheriff's Department
Steven grew up in Terre Haute and enlisted in the United States Air Force at just 17 years old. He served an amazing 21 years, including 13 combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Over his career, he worked as an Air Force cop, dog handler, instructor, and most recently Senior NCO for the Inspector General of the USAF at the Pentagon. After retiring in June 2025, Steven returned home and now proudly serves with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. He is a shining example of service before self.
🔹 John Bull – Terre Haute Fire Department
John has been a paramedic for 34 years, serving with aid ambulances, Rural Metro Ambulance, and now as both a paramedic and firefighter with THFD Station 9, C shift. John is always ready to step in during emergencies—and just as present at home, cheering on his family or even helping wrangle llamas, alpacas, and goats!
These two men have given so much of themselves for the safety, health, and strength of our community.
