🚨Today, we honor Officer Richard Waters of the Terrell Police Department who will be boxing in the Guns and Hoses Event September 13th!

Officer Waters is standing in the gap for his fallen brother in blue, Officer Jacob Candanoza, whose sacrifice will never be forgotten. His words reflect the heart of true service:
“I’m fighting for the Candanoza family. Pride stops at the gate, this is bigger than us all.”

In taking on this deeply personal and challenging mission, Officer Waters shows that the bonds of law enforcement are unbreakable. His willingness to shoulder the weight of loss, to fight for honor, and to ensure the Candanoza family feels the unwavering support of their community, speaks volumes about his character.

This long weekend let’s take a few moments to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. A day to remember and honor those who died in the line of duty serving our military.

Army Sgt. Gerardo “Chito” Moreno was a childhood friend who lived up the street. With his charming smile and fiery red hair he could make any teacher’s frown turn upside down. I saw him the night he got his famous “Chito” tattoo across his abdomen like Tupac. A high school kid with some ink; he was a badass for sure in my eyes. Behind that tough persona was a good kid; aged well beyond his years who loved his mother and his younger siblings. Sgt. Moreno paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country on April 6, 2004. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.
