WWE SmackDown Results – July 17, 2026
SmackDown kicked off with GUNTHER making his way to the ring. The Ring General wasted no time airing his frustrations, claiming he should already be WWE Champion if not for Nick Aldis. GUNTHER accused Aldis of targeting him since he arrived on SmackDown and criticized being forced to team with Sami Zayn against Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, insisting Zayn didn't deserve to stand beside him.
Adam Pearce interrupted and fired back, telling GUNTHER he should be thankful Aldis hadn't fired him after his recent actions. After a heated exchange, Pearce raised the stakes for this weekend's tag team match: if GUNTHER and Sami Zayn defeat Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, they will be added to the WWE Championship match, turning it into a Fatal 4-Way.
Moments later, Cody Rhodes stormed to the ring and attacked GUNTHER. The Ring General escaped, but Cody demanded a one-on-one match later that night. Pearce made it official.

Finn Bálor def. Tama Tonga
After an intense battle, Bálor overcame outside interference and finished Tama Tonga with not one, but two Coup de Grâce to secure the victory.
Tiffany Stratton def. Jacy Jayne (Interim WWE Women's Championship Ladder Match Qualifier)
Stratton escaped the Rolling Encore, connected with a rolling senton, and sealed the win with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever, earning her place in the SummerSlam Ladder Match.
Jade Cargill def. Nia Jax (via Disqualification) (Interim WWE Women's Championship Ladder Match Qualifier)
Charlotte Flair stormed the ring and attacked Jade Cargill, forcing the referee to end the match. Afterward, chaos erupted as Nia Jax attacked Flair before Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin stood tall. Later backstage, Adam Pearce announced that Jade Cargill will face Charlotte Flair next week for another chance to qualify.
The Viking Raiders def. FrAxiom
The Viking Raiders dominated the closing moments, delivering a devastating Ragnarok to score an impressive tag team victory.
Cody Rhodes def. GUNTHER (via Disqualification)
The main event broke down when Sami Zayn attacked CM Punk at ringside. Cody left the ring to help Punk, but Zayn threw Rhodes into the ring post, causing the referee to award the match to Cody via disqualification. After the bell, Rhodes, Punk, Zayn, and GUNTHER erupted into a wild brawl as officials rushed in to restore order.
SmackDown ended with absolute chaos ahead of a massive weekend.
