Alpha Radio CEO Loses Defamation Case Against Zuria FM and Its General Manager Judge Says Claims Were Baseless and Unsupported by Evidence.

Kumasi High Court has dismissed a defamation case filed by Mohammed Ridwanu, CEO of Alpha Radio, against Yussif Abdul Ganiyu, General Manager of Zuria FM and Zuria FM.

The judge ruled that the plaintiff failed woefully to make his case. Throughout the trial, Ridwanu did not present a single witness or any credible evidence to support his claims. The court found no merit in the allegations and dismissed the suit entirely.

The judgment has been shared with major media outlets for immediate and wide circulation.

PRESIDENCY COMMUNICATIONS PRESENTS GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY SERIES.

As part of efforts to deepen transparency and accountability in governance, the Presidency Communications Office will on Monday, 14th July 2025, begin "The Government Accountability Series".

The series will offer a platform for a tentative appraisal of the government's performance over the last six months. Key sector ministers will present Mid-Year updates on their sector’s performance.

The series will be held three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 am.

Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, will kick-start the Series tomorrow, Monday, 14th July 2025.

Who Owns Alpha Radio? Unraveling the Truth Behind Alphata Community Radio 104.9 FM

Community radio stations are meant to serve the people, amplify their voices, and address their concerns. The essence of a community radio lies in its ownership—it belongs to the community, not an individual. However, recent investigations into the ownership structure of Alphata Community Radio 104.9 FM (Alpha Radio) raise critical questions about whether this principle is being upheld.

The NCA Records: Community or Private Ownership?

According to the National Communications Authority (NCA), Alpha Radio is authorized as a community radio station. The authorization is under Alphata Community Radio, which is registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee (LBG). Under Ghanaian law, an LBG is a not-for-profit entity that exists to serve a public or charitable purpose rather than for personal financial gain. This structure aligns with the very definition of a community radio station—one that belongs to and serves the community.

However, deeper scrutiny suggests a possible contradiction.

ALPHA RADIO CEO, MOHAMMED RIDWANU, FINED GH¢20,000

Kumasi, Ghana - In a defamation case brought against Yussif Abdul Ganiyu and Zuria FM, Mohammed Ridwanu, CEO of Alpha Radio, has been fined GH¢20,000 by Justice Frederick Tetteh of Kumasi High Court 7.

The court ruled that Ridwanu failed to establish his case, leading to the imposition of the fine. This verdict brings closure to a lengthy and contentious legal battle.

The fine is expected to serve as a deterrent against frivolous lawsuits and defamation claims.
