Remember the last scene where Napoleon starts to play tether ball with Deb, and the song, "The Promise" starts playing? The band was called, When In Rome and Jayden was the frontman back in the early 2000's. He was the lead singer for 37 shows back in the day. Now I can't get the tune out of my head!

Balanced Rock Brewing, located at 5265 State Hwy 121 in The Colony announced a few days ago that they have closed for business in The Colony. According to an online statement, "current economic realities have made it difficult to carry on at the present location, " and they have been scouting for a new location, which may be more suitable for a craft brewery. They may possibly open one last time and have some, "crazy specials and hand out merch to their loyal patrons." Check their page for more info in the coming days.

This location began originally as Urban 8 Food Court back in August 2018, and after a few years the food court had also closed due to economic difficulties. Balanced Rock Brewing opened their doors officially on March 20, 2025, and performed extensive interior renovations to accommodate their brewery and to remove the existing structures from the previous occupant.
Below are a few before/after photos back when Urban 8 launched and after new renovations were made to support the brewery.

📌 Calling all Parents. NOW is the time to think about enrolling your young BRAINIACS into a S.T.E.A.M. after-school program before the classes fill up. STEAM education benefits all students, it encourages their curiosity, supports their understanding of global challenges and builds vital skills that will help them navigate their lives, but more importantly, it is an exceptional fit for young, gifted learners. Gifted traits-such as children with deep curiosity, abstract reasoning and intense problem-solving persistence, align naturally with the inquiry-based, open-ended nature of STEAM projects.

When properly differentiated, STEAM provides the advanced complexity gifted students need. Call today and see if a class is forming near you.

🚸 School begins next week in The Colony, so please be aware of children walking and riding their bikes to school. Also, if you encounter a school bus loading/unloading students, please be aware of the rules when approaching a bus. 🚸
🛑 Texas State law requires that drivers STOP when a school bus is operating a visual signal (either red flashing lights or an extended stop arm). However, many drivers are unsure WHEN to stop on different road types. 🛑

☀️🐾 END OF SUMMER PUP PARTY! 🐾☀️
Before summer comes to an end, we’re throwing our shelter pups the ultimate doggy celebration on Sunday, August 9th! 🎉🌭🍦💦
Our amazing volunteers are pulling out all the stops to give our dogs a day they’ll never forget:
🐶 Fresh-grilled hot dogs
🍦 Homemade doggy ice cream
🧊 Delicious pupsicles made with plain Greek yogurt and dog-safe fruit
💦 Splash pad fun
🏖️ Doggy pools to cool off
🫧 And maybe even a surprise bubble party!
These dogs spend every day waiting for families of their own, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate them than with a day full of treats, playtime, and lots of tail wags. ❤️
Want to help make the party happen? We’re looking for donations of:
🌭 Hot dogs (no buns)
🥣 Plain Greek yogurt
🍓🍌 Dog-safe fruit (such as most berries, banana, watermelon)
Donations can be dropped off at The Colony Animal Services August 6-8th.
Every hot dog, every spoonful of yogurt, and every piece of fruit helps us give these deserving pups a day filled with happiness while they wait for their forever homes. Thank you for helping us make this End of Summer Pup Party one to remember! 🐕🎉☀️
