Roy & Karen: To Retirement and Beyond Facebook presence for our YouTube Channel Our story is inspirational and a testimony to God and how he transforms people.

We met on Prodigy [online] in 1991, met in person in 1992, started dating in 1993, got married in 1995, got divorced in 2012 and we were re-married in 2016. This channel is also about making dreams happen. As a Los Angeles couple keeping up with the Joneses, we were in debt and had no money set aside for retirement. Then we took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University class - and followed it with

"Gazelle Intensity" - from becoming debt free all the way to now being mortgage free too. Now we are working on building our nest egg. With the crazy real estate market in the Austin, Texas area we were able to cash out and buy our new home in The Villages, Florida. Though we are still working, we are working our way to retirement. In early 2023 we bought an RV [2020 BT Cruiser 5240] to help us with our wanderlust.

Our base camp will be Acadia National Park - and hiking the coast line will be a priority. During our planning stage we decided that taking a boat tour out to see the puffins was not going to work as we didn't want to leave the dogs behind for so long, but then we found out we could take them on board, yay!

After Karen and I were separated/divorced for 4 years we reconciled and re-married in 2016. If you don't know our story I'd like to suggest you watch our video "Our Story In A Nutshell" I'll put a link to that video in a comment to this post. During the time we considered reconciling we spent a weekend in Fredericksburg, TX and then a week together in Sedona, AZ.

In 2026 we get to celebrate 10 years of being Roy & Karen 2.0 with a trip back to Sedona.

Going from Florida back to Texas for Christmas has always been somewhat of a chore in the past. When we were still working we'd want to cross the 1100 miles as fast as we could to enjoy our family and friends for as long as we could. But now that we are retired, we can leave earlier to enjoy adventure along the way AND we don't have to come right home, we can add additional adventures to the tail end.
