Roy & Karen: To Retirement and Beyond

Roy & Karen: To Retirement and Beyond We met on Prodigy [online] in 1991, met in person in 1992, started dating in 1993, got married in 1995, got divorced in 2012 and we were re-married in 2016.

Now that we are retired and enjoying our best life in The Villages Florida we also get the chance of a lifetime to RV travel around our glorious country, with our boyz, Yukon and Colt. Our story is inspirational and a testimony to God and how he transforms people. This channel is also about making dreams happen. As a Los Angeles couple keeping up with the Joneses, we were in debt and had no money set aside for retirement. Then we took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University class - and followed it with "Gazelle Intensity" - from becoming debt free all the way to now being mortgage free too. Now we are working on building our nest egg. With the crazy real estate market in the Austin, Texas area we were able to cash out and buy our new home in The Villages, Florida. Though we are still working, we are working our way to retirement. In early 2023 we bought an RV [2020 BT Cruiser 5240] to help us with our wanderlust.

In this episode we leave the towering Saguaro cacti behind and we make our way into the breathtaking red rock country of Sedona, Arizona!

For this leg of the journey, we set up basecamp at Dead Horse Ranch State Park for five nights. It turned out to be the perfect spot to kick back, unwind, and explore the surrounding area.

During our stay, we tackled the incredible trail to Devil's Bridge for some unforgettable views. We also took a trip over to Winery 1912 for a special wine tasting session. Sitting there brought back wonderful memories of 2015 — Sedona is where we reconciled and decided to remarry. The rest of our stay was all about relaxing around the campsite, soaking in the mountain views, and enjoying the quiet RV life.
