Before we take off on this adventure we needed to celebrate Karen's Birthday! YAY!!!

We grabbed 5 nights at Curry Hammock State Park when someone canceled. It was the perfect number of days for a vacation while Karen was still working. But since we are both now retired, we were able to add a few days at Fort DeSoto.

After Chicago pizza we needed to get out of the "Big City" and found Indiana Dunes National Park just an hour away. 2.5 miles of getting lost on the dunes was fun - kinda sorta. We'd never heard of Indiana Dunes - and we'd never heard of our next stop either - Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. Both parks were unique and loads of fun.
