today is national rare disease day, and it’s a day to raise awareness for the conditions, diseases, and illnesses which are overlooked, in the shadows and unknown; of rare. considering i have multiple chronic rare diseases i thought i’d bring some awareness to the subject.
having multiple chronic debilitating illnesses can take a huge toll not only on my physical health but my mental health too. i’ve been in and out of hospitals ever since i was 15; doing rounds of testing and being poked and prodded by needles and catheters… it’s something i would never wish upon anyone; not even my worst enemy. when you have a rare disease, you face two battles. one being the illness itself, and the other, living in a world where few people understand what you’re up against. i’m thankful to be here today advocating for others with rare conditions like me. nobody should ever feel invisible, helpless, left out and alone. if you ever need someone to talk to my dms are always open 💜

trip to the er yesterday afternoon after i was having severe body aches and chills. blood cultures were drawn, chest x-ray was done and all other labs seemed to be in range and okay. we got the call at 3:45am this morning saying my blood cultures started growing so back in the er again waiting to be admitted to be started on iv antibiotics and hopefully kill this infection!

update on Lilias infection: The doctor called this afternoon and told us that her infection is growing staph and they will have to remove the line in a couple days in surgery and then wait until the infection is gone so that they can place another one. we were hoping we would get out for Lilias treatment on Tuesday but it looks like we’re going to have to postpone it for now, we’re praying it’s not too long of a wait for her to get her treatment but due to the winter storm appointments have been postponed. prayers welcome! 💗

Back in the ER with a central line infection. Cultures already grew back positive so now we wait to see what bugs are growing! (fun, right?) Now IV antibiotics around the clock and inpatient for a couple days, hopefully we won’t need to replace the line with surgery! We are hoping we won’t be here too long but prayers are appreciated! Lilia is supposed to have her next infusion on Tuesday which she needs to be out of the hospital for so prayers that she can make it and not have to reschedule are greatly appreciated!

Lilia is home! Now strong IV antibiotics every 8 hours for the next 10 days to kill this infection! Thank you for all the prayers!

yesterday night lilia ended up getting sick and woke up with body aches and chills, after throwing up and spiking a fever we made a trip to the ER. (yes, we just got out of the ER saturday after there was a crack in her central line.) at the ER they ran a bunch of labs and chest and stomach x-ray, dr suspected maybe corona so they tested and came back negative. started an IV, got IV phenergan for nausea and then got discharged and was told if bacteria grows in the blood then we have to come back. sooo... not even 24 hours after being home we get a call right before heading to bed saying bacteria has started to grow and we need to go back to the ER. we made it back to the ER around 11:30pm, got more labs pulled, got another IV, started antibiotics and got admitted to be watched. we’re praying we don’t have to replace the line because it was just replaced saturday and that would mean another surgery! prayers for a quick discharge! 🙏🏼💘

first night of 2021 spent in the hospital overnight. we had more complications with my central line so they had to replace my line again but i am now back home resting from surgery this morning.
