Some quality family time was calling and was the perfect place to have that.

There’s no denying that this time of year for some of us feels like we are really in the thick of things. With the end of the school year festivities and spring sports starting, schedules quickly fill up (on top of the long list of “all the other things”).

As life speeds up, it’s important for us to recognize when we need to slow down and reset. This has been exactly that for us. Hours and hours of board games, running through the trails, fishing the river. Chatting and laughing together, slowing down and being with each other. Disconnecting from the everyday constant has been easy here.

is placed on 14 wooded acres, with river front on the Betsie River. The cabin is comfortable (and absolutely breathtaking), one I’ve happily spent the majority of our stay in - one that will be difficult to leave.

I could ramble all day long about how impressed I am with this location. It’s a cabin girlies dream. But truthfully, for our entire family. 🌲

Meet Blue.

I must subconsciously have created this habit of growing my family just before the kids head back to school at the end of summer.

On July 30th, I had plans to pick up 2 Australian Shepherd Beagle puppies around 10 weeks old being rescued from a mill down in Ohio. This was my second time signing up to foster. Plans changed and those puppies were no longer there upon the rescues arrival. I was sent puppies that were still needing help (Australian Shepherd Cattle Dog mixes) that were just 8 weeks old and without thinking of course would still help. I eagerly agreed to even help with the four needing a home.

Before I knew it, I was on the hour drive home with four very stinky puppies in my trunk with a heart so very full and ready to care for them. These puppies needed all of the extra love. We quickly learned that Blue was the most timid and fearful of us. He was most content in the corner, not as playful, and was most likely to go and hide when free range of the yard/house.

What really broke Blue from those nerves was our resident dog, Woofie (of course in addition to other things). When he was with him he was happy and playful - a completely different dog. We instantly knew that they were meant for each other.

On September 13th, we officially signed the paper confident that we would be able to provide a great home for Blue and that he would be a great permanent addition for our family. He has been such a joy, and we’ve all quickly fell in love with him.
