Homemade & going to the freezer.

Super super happy and excited to do this again.

I have no idea how it tastes, but it’ll only get better from here.

We raise our own animals to give them the best possible life and then someday eat them. Many people cannot grasp the fact that I can love these animals: relishing the day they are born and mourning when they meet their end too soon or unexpectedly, checking on them when they are brand new just like a mother, even bottle feeding some of them; but that I would also eat them. They judge me silently for my icy black heart.

Then they go buy meat from a supermarket, or pick up fast food on the way home. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people say they love eating meat, but they could never take an animal’s life, as if their sensitivity proves them to be morally superior in some way.

Unfortunately the byproduct of their ā€œsensitivityā€ is the horrific reality of massive amounts of confinement operations. If people were willing to raise or hunt their own meat, millions of animals a year would be saved from factory farming. Their disdain for blood on their own hands is directly responsible for the torture, neglect and abuse of the very same animals they claim to love.

Why is there such a disconnect? And why is it so pervasive in our country? My family didn’t stumble into this life by accident. It is a result of years of research and learning and careful decision making. When you start to actually grow food and bump up against the reality that there is indeed no life without a certain amount of death you begin to seek out ways to do the least harm. - Homestead Mamas

Reusing an old mayo jar to hold tallow in the freezer.

Rendered and placed into Ice cube trays for easy usage while cooking.

They popped out of the trays with ease.

The jar will be placed into our kitchen freezer while the remaining gallon bags will be stored in the spare freezers for later.

Not pictured is the reused jars I also filled and have cooling with tallow tonight.

"Canning and preserving food is not new. It’s been around for generations.
I understand trepidation when starting something but friends… the ā€œfoodā€ that floods our screens, our grocery store shelves, they are truly scary.
Canning, dehydrating, freezing, preserving REAL food is doable. It’s something we CAN do.
There are many wonderful people across this platform that have been putting by their food like I have for many, many years. Teaching and sharing how you can take these skills into your own home. You don’t have to have acreage. You don’t have to grow it all yourself. You don’t have to have a cellar designated for your canned items. You just have to have a desire to start. A willingness to take a real hard look at the foods that are being eaten, and if they are mostly processed garbage… a willingness to change.
One baby step at a time is better than turning a blind eye to what we know is an issue.
That’s why I’m here, let’s learn together. šŸ’›

I’ve shared this again because it’s just that important… it’s worth repeating." 😘

We finally have our front and backyard separated.

Extra special thank you to my in laws! They helped pull the fencing so we could get this project complete!

Now our goats can rotate areas of the property and I can finally plant pretty flowers in our front flower beds without the goats munching them down or the chickens scratching them up.

What is your favorite flower or herb to grow?
I would love to have a mix of herbs and flowers out front 🌷🌻🌿
