Today I saw a man walking through the projects. Years ago, he was one of the cleanest, sharpest guys I knew. But I could tell he was fighting an addiction.
I stopped and asked, "Brother, can I pray for you?"
He immediately lifted his hands.
Right there on the spot, I began praying and rebuking every demonic attack over his life. When I finished, he grabbed me and hugged me tight he wouldn't let me go. With tears running down his face, he kept saying, "Thank you, man... thank you."
I got back in my car and became emotional.
I never would have done that if my dad never lead by example. That's the kind of thing my dad would do.
He wasn't just concerned about preaching from a pulpit. He was concerned about setting captives free wherever he found them. Whether it was in a church, on a street corner, in a hospital room, or in the projects, he believed ministry happened wherever people were hurting.
Today reminded me that sometimes the greatest sermons are never preached behind a microphone. They're lived out through compassion, prayer, and love.
There are people all around us fighting battles we cannot see. Don't just walk past them. Pray for them. Encourage them. Love them.
You never know what one moment of compassion can do for someone's life.
I can't wait to see him delivered.
