Don't scold her if she gets it wrong.
Don't get impatient when she repeats the same thing twenty times.
Don't ignore her when she confuses names, days or memories.
Because she's still your mom.
The same one who, when you were a child, answered the same question a thousand times and never got tired of it.
The same one who wiped away your tears, even when they were just whims.
The same one who held your head up when the fever kept you awake.
Today, her memory wavers, her body tires and her steps are slower. But you know what? Her heart continues to beat for you, just as it did when she held you as a child.
Go to her. Make her feel that she's not a burden. That her life still has value. That her laughter, even if it escapes in the midst of oblivion, remains a melody.
And when she wraps her fragile hands around you, hold on to that moment... because one day, that chair will be empty, and you'd give anything to hear her tell her story one more time.
Take care of her. Listen to her. Embrace her.
Because life flies by, and the love you don't give today... tomorrow will weigh you down like a stone.
