CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION

We remain under a High Wind Warning until 10 PM this evening.

West winds are gusting 30 to 40 mph steadily, with some areas seeing peaks up to 60 mph.

Drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles like trucks, SUVs, or trailers, need to use extra caution. These winds can make handling tough and push vehicles around.

Conditions will get even trickier as the sun sets and we lose daylight, reducing visibility on top of the gusts.

We’ve also had reports of slick spots on roadways in neighboring counties from falling temperatures, so stay alert for ice or reduced traction.

For reference, our Sheriff’s Office weather station recorded a gust of 54 mph at 9 AM this morning.

Please slow down, keep both hands on the wheel, and give yourself plenty of space. Stay safe out there, everyone.

-Sheriff Stevens

Crown Battery and WTTF are counting down to America's 250th birthday! Each week until July 4th of 2026, we will be sharing historical highlights on-air and online as we prepare for this momentous occasion 🇺🇸

From December 29th through January 4th, history delivered some memorable moments: The Bank of North America, the first U.S. bank, was chartered by the Confederation Congress in 1781, followed by President George Washington delivering the first State of the Union in 1790. The U.S. raised the Stars and Stripes over New Orleans in 1803, formally taking possession of Louisiana and nearly doubling the nation’s size, and in 1863 President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves in the rebelling states. Thomas Edison publicly demonstrated his electric incandescent lamp in New Jersey in 1879, and Alaska became the 49th U.S. state in 1959, adding a land mass nearly one-fifth the size of the lower 48.

These historical highlights were also brought to you by Ottawa County Veterans Service Office, Snyder's Floor Covering Outlet, and Fricker's Fremont 🦅
