After Vice-President of Operations for Fields Auto Group Jim Moyer lost a friend - Chicago Police Department Officer Phillip O’Reilly - he built a Jeep, which was donated to Chicago Police Memorial Foundation-Official Page to raise money for families of fallen officers. Fields Auto Group combined with Chrysler and Mopar to continue to build a series of customized Jeeps for organizations to raffle off to raise money.

In a FEATURE STORY, Buffalo Grove Police Department Chief Steven Casstevens was sworn in as the 68th Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police President at the April 22 ceremony. Casstevens put forth his priorities for the upcoming year, highlighted by a goal to increase membership by 10 percent and re-emphasize the importance of community policing.

Special coverage of the 2016 National Police Week continues with Normal Police Department Officers John Rowe and John McCauley who were honored as Top Cops Honorable Mentions at the Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) Top Cop Awards on May 14. The officers saved a 22-year-old who dived into a pool, hit his head, broke his neck and went into cardiac arrest.

“I scooped her up as if she was my own daughter.”

A pair of veteran officers from the Schaumburg Police Station responded to a 9-1-1 call to find a little girl blue in the face on the side of the road, choking. The officers’ heroics were caught on the dashboard video camera viewed by thousands across the U.S. but share first-hand what they were thinking while performing the Heimlich and saving her life.

“Through Officer Fitzgerald’s devotion to his family and passion for public service, we continue to find strength. But for now we bleed blue for Officer Fitzgerald and his family.

The South Jacksonville Police Department continues to mourn Officer Scot Fitzgerald who passed away after his squad car was struck while on duty on March 4. The department is selling commemorative apparel with Fitzgerald’s badge number to raise money and pay tribute to the fallen officer.
