TRAFFIC ALERT

The crew will be out on Black Point Drive this week doing their best to get some grading done to flatten out those potholes. We recommend you avoid Black Point this week and check out the Gator Creek roads or Biolab Road. If you must be on Black Point please drive slowly and use caution. The grader takes up most of the road.

Hazardous Marine Conditions at Canaveral National Seashore this week.
The National Weather Service has issued an advisory for our area. While Hurricane Erin is not forecast to make landfall here, hazardous marine conditions are expected for both beachgoers and boaters starting today and lasting through mid-week.
Key alerts for your visit to the park:
• Swells from Hurricane Erin will create a high risk of life-threatening rip currents and rough surf at all east central Florida beaches through late week.
• Hazardous boating conditions are expected as seas build, especially near inlets during outgoing tides.
• Rough surf with 5–8 foot breakers may cause minor beach and dune erosion Tuesday and Wednesday.
For your safety, avoid swimming, use caution near the water, and stay weather aware.

Living shorelines don’t just stop erosion; they help filter excess nutrients and sediments before they reach the lagoon. Healthier water supports seagrass beds, which support manatees, sea turtles, and juvenile fish!

In Titusville, oyster bars, clams, seagrass, and wave attenuation devices (WADs) are slowing waves and protecting fragile shorelines while also creating calm areas where seagrass can thrive. Together, these nature-based solutions restore balance to the Indian River Lagoon.
