It's a SPECIAL EDITION for a SPECIAL GUY. 'Big Jim Edwards' wasn't just a promoter and programmer, he was a champion for local music, music education, Blues in schools, and even headed the 501(c) non-profit, 'The Greater Allen County Blues Society'. He was also a huge supporter of this program, RANDOMOSITY, and along with Ryder Creative, was a creative consultant on the program. For Dr. Jay Thomas though, host of the program, he wasn't just an influence. He was something MORE. Dr. Jay Thomas got to call 'BIG JIM' Dad!

Ten years ago Owens Community College Radio hit the air. In that time it's become a beacon for student education and expression. The most celebrated and successful show in Owens Community College Radio history was Randomosity - Toledo's Only Vinyl Radio Show . Now, we look back on that time and how Owens Community College and Owens Community College Radio became a key to success for everyone involved with the program.

In our last season we decided to throw the rule book out of the window and turn the volume up to 11. We did everything from make fun of other radio stations, to playing rock and roll records that hadn't been on Toledo radio in a number of years. One of the cool things we did was play bootleg concerts during the month of October 2024 and featured the reunion of with a special presentation of their show at Savage Hall on the campus of The University of Toledo .

It's tough to put into words just how important Ace Frehley was to the rock world. There are a lot of people who went on to become big stars in popular music who have Ace Frehley and his style to thank for their careers as guitar players. Back in April of 2023 right after Randomosity - Toledo's Only Vinyl Radio Show won its first award on Owens Community College Radio, we went live for Vinylthon 2023 and profiled the first "Alive" LP from KISS that basically rewrote the rules of what a live album could be. It was a great time with Morgan Kosinski NBC 24 and Kisstorian Jamie D'Vette. It was an absolute blast!

For those who didn't get the chance to hear it, let's hop in our time machine and go back to April 2023 as we profile Ace and the legendary double live album "ALIVE" from KISS.
