Another update? Whoa.

As production inches forward on our special, "Dark Disturbances: History, Hauntings and Legends of Lake Erie" (which we hope will eventually be aired on PBS and available to watch on our Patreon and Dark Realm TV after), I've made this Patreon post available to everyone. I want anyone who follows us, even if it's only occasionally, to have a candid look at how I'm preparing some of the recreations for the special.

Up on our Patreon is an exclusive look at the beginning of the next "Channel Nowhere," the experimental series that blends true paranormal experiences, fictional framing sequences, and analog horror into presentations of grim surrealism.

Normally these types of work-in-progress updates are available only to most of the paid tiers of patrons, but I'm temporarily making this post free for all to access because I'm pretty excited for where this series could go down the road. Even the original pilot episode was only a glimpse into the future.

One of the reasons I pulled the plug on making future "Dark Travels" episodes (besides sharing the word "Dark" with "Dark Disturbances," our flagship series) was that there didn't seem to be much public interest in them after the first episode. I was also creatively stretching myself too thin and the effort I put into making them wasn't worth the minimal response.

With that being said, I also don't regret making those three episodes of "Dark Travels" at all. But there's one that received the least views out of them all on YouTube (barely over 100) that I think deserved much more.

The episode covering our investigation of the former Wandering Bean Coffee Co / Patsy Cakes location (once a funeral home) was an interesting and fun night. We explored the basement alongside Christopher Tillman of Haunted Toledo and guest Anthony Zbierajewski, AKA The City of Toledo Department of Memes guy. I have a lot of fond memories of that night, and it's one of those hunts that first come to mind when I feel the itch to do another.

Between 1989-1991 (I can't remember the exact year; it also could have been all of them), WTOL 11 ran occasional features about local legends and hauntings during the Halloween season(s). This one about the Elmore Rider is the only one they have up (that I can find) but I know there were more. All I can remember is that I never seemed to be able to find a tape whenever they came on. There was one news piece that genuinely creeped me out, but I'll be damned if I can remember what location it covered.

There's nothing on this channel. But something is always taped.

"AlterWorld Presents: Haunting Stories," the analog horror series that takes true accounts of paranormal experiences and presents them as scary stories on VHS tapes, has been renamed "Channel Nowhere" (stylized as C H A N N E L // N O W H E R E).

As part of my efforts to streamline and refocus future AlterWorld content, I felt the name change was necessary. The original name was a mouthful and was always intended to be temporary (but in this case "temporary" turned out to be a little over two years).

The name change will also allow me to play around with the format using some ideas I had while conceptualizing short horror films. The series will still be based off of true encounters with the paranormal, but each story will be connected by an ongoing (and fictional) frame narrative. The pilot episode is linked here for those who haven't seen it yet. I had a lot of fun working on this one. It was another collaboration with Christopher Tillman and it allowed me to experiment creatively.
