🐶 Start slow—marina walks and short boat visits help ease them in
🎽 Don’t skip the essentials: leash, life jacket, water, shade, and ID
🌞 Yes, dog sunscreen is a thing (and yes, they need it)
💤 Build in quiet time—they’re learning the ropes, too!

Lake Ontario Fishing Report – July Action!

It’s go time! Salmon are running strong offshore (18–20 lbs, some hitting 40), and steelhead are stacked high chasing orange spoons.

Quick Tips:
– Find thermoclines and baitfish
– Run spoons up top, meat rigs and flies down deep
– Target 40–50° water with mag spoons, copper, or wire

⚠️ Small boats: keep an eye on the forecast—offshore can get dicey.

🔥 Also Heating Up: Bass & pike in Mexico Bay and Henderson Harbor.

August means staging kings, combat fishing, and big strikes. Flashy gear is a must!

Our Story

Great Lakes Scuttlebutt is a bi-monthly, free magazine distributed at 1500+ locations along the US and Canadian coastlines of the Great Lakes. Our business aims to provide Great Lakes boaters of all types a source for information, products, services, and adventures that are all relevant to them as freshwater, Great Lakes boaters.

Five of our six annual issues feature a “Destination” for each of the Great Lakes - that means 25 amazing, boating-friendly places highlighted each year! Every business found inside is pertinent to Great Lakes boaters either because they are located on the shores of the Great Lakes or because they offer services to the Great Lakes area at large. Finally, you will always find fishing reports and articles, sailing stories, classified/used boats, and all the latest news on the Great Lakes in every issue.

What started as a black and white newspaper-style publication back in 1992 has grown into what you see now all through the support of our advertisers (keeping us free!) and our readers (keeping them advertising!)

We don’t ask for your money or your email address; we don’t share or sell your name or your demographics; we don’t lock out our news, events, and resources in exchange for anything from you.
