Toledo Cheese Days will be July 8-11, 2021. The theme is "Aged to Perfection."
It takes months of planning by dozens of volunteers to put on an annual community event like Cheese Days. Toledo's Cheese Days Committee met today and we all decided to go for it and start planning. This year's Toledo Cheese Days will be July 8-11, 2021. Our theme is "Aged to Perfection" and our Big Cheeses will be Ron & Sue Smith and Dale & Jeannette Koth.
Last year's Cheese Days was cancelled due to COVID but this year we are optimistic we can still do many of our events like the parade, classic car & motorcycle show, golf tournament, auctions and barbecues as long as we are outdoors, masked, sanitized and smart about it. If COVID infections surge statewide we may have no choice to cancel, but as of today, Cheese Days is on.

Centralia Transfer Station Restricts Waste
CENTRALIA - The Centralia Transfer Station will no longer accept solid waste from residents living outside of Lewis County, beginning Friday, April 10, 2020.
"We have been seeing record numbers of customers in the last several days," said Greg Gachowsky, the county public works manager who oversees the Centralia Transfer Station. "We simply cannot safely handle the waste."
Gachowsky said the closure of waste facilities in surrounding counties has overwhelmed the Centralia station. He said transfer station customers should be prepared to provide identification to prove their residency or they may be turned away.
Other preventative hygiene measures in response to COVID-19 include limited payment methods. Cash and checks are no longer accepted but customers can still pay by credit or debit card. There is no fee for using credit cards during this period. The Hazo Hut and ReUse Center at the Centralia Transfer Station are also temporarily closed.

Lewis County will lose health providers in Jan. 2020
Thousands of Apple Health patients will see insurance changes next year
By Jake Morgan, staff writer
Lewis County residents who are enrolled in Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) will no longer have the Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW) or Coordinated Care of Washington (CCW) as options for managed care beginning in January 2020.
The move is part of a years-long campaign by Washington Apple Health and the state legislature to create an integrated managed care model that combines physical and behavioral health care and payment into one system.
"We are trying to approach this from a whole-person perspective," said Amy Blondin, chief communications officer for the Washington State Health Care Authority. "This is about combining treatment for mind and body."
