⚡️Breaking (imaginary) Village News⚡️

This week’s bake is cooling, the flour clouds are settling, and the Village is—well, let’s just say it’s never boring.
• The intern (who may or may not be a real person) has once again staged a walkout after being denied hazard pay for sprinkle duty. 🙄
• The Village Council (who may or may not exist) is drafting legislation declaring sourdough Pop-Tarts as the official currency.
• And the Village Baker? She’s over here wondering how one woman can run both a real microbakery and a fictional Village economy at the same time 😩

Now, for real updates 👇🏾

First, 💛 A big thank you to everyone who’s already placed their orders this week—you’re the best! Orders are still open, I need to have them all by Sunday evening, so there’s still time if you haven’t snagged yours yet.

And since it’s my birthday week, you can select to add a special (bigger, thicker) birthday hand pie ($1)—kind of like sharing my slice of birthday cake with you. 🥳 The flavor will be a surprise (one of four of the most-loved I’ve made since starting my sourdough Pop-Tarts/hand pies), but trust me—you don’t want to miss it!

Okay, updates!

✨ Starting in September, we’re moving to a bi-weekly preorder schedule—prioritizing family rhythms while still keeping your bread baskets full. (Most items freeze beautifully, and storage/reheating tips are always included.)

Menus will open earlier, so you’ll have at least a full 7–10 days to place orders.

✨ Every order now comes with our weekly Village newsletter.

Writing it has quickly become one of my favorite parts of this work—it’s where I get to connect with you beyond the algorithm, share behind-the-scenes stories, and let you peek at who we really are.
Think of it as our little loaf-note community on paper.

✨ And because community is a two-way street, you’ll also find a QR code tucked inside that leads to fun polls and surveys—my way of actually hearing from you, not just whoever happens to scroll past a Facebook post.

…And finally, something else is quietly rising in the background. Let’s just say the Village has been building something on wheels. 👀 I’ll share a glimpse tomorrow.

He creates some of the most creative seasonal ice cream flavors you’ll ever taste, and his motto is simple: Jesus and ice cream.
Honestly, I think he’s onto something—because paired with sourdough, that’s about as close to heaven on earth as it gets🍞🍨

Sooo I had so much fun sharing my heart about microbakeries such as ours… such an honor to be highlighted in this way and truly a win for all of us small bakers hidden in our homes, struggling to be visible without a storefront, baking with integrity for you what we bake for our own families, fighting the urge to hustle too much that we cant make time or mental space to be fully present for the people that matter the most in our lives and trying to continue to bring something relevant, different and unique to our local communities (while constantly wondering if we’re enough, doing enough, offering enough and making enough of a difference).

We wouldn’t be here without an amazing community of local customers and supporters who cheer us on continually.

Friends, my heart is full after yesterday’s bake & pick-up day💛

Everything turned out beautifully — the loaves sang as they cooled and the English muffins were so light and tender. It was one of those sumptuous days in the bakery where everything just clicked.

I’m so honored every time you trust me to fill your tables, lunchboxes, and snack jars. Truly, thank you. 🥰

Now… it also happens to be my birthday week 🎉 and you know I can’t celebrate without baking something a little extra.

So this week, if you do order, you can add a Birthday Hand Pie (for $1, just enough to cover platform and credit card fees) — a little bigger, thicker than usual, and filled with a surprise flavor:
maybe lemon blueberry, cherry pomegranate lime, roasted peach cardamom, or lemon strawberry (all the flavors that you have loved over the past year and a half since I have introduced hand pies on the menu).

This is my way of handing you a “slice” of a birthday cake in pastry form. 🥧💛

This bowl is giving: crunchy, creamy, summery goodness.
Fresh peach and mango slices + thick yogurt (homemade) + my maple-pecan granola = actual magic. 🥣🍑🥭✨

You all loved this granola this week — and I do too 🤤
It’s toasty, nutty, crunchy, lightly sweet, and full of those big golden clusters we all dig for first.

Hi bread friends 💛

Whew — the past few days have been a whirlwind of flour, dough, and lots of love. Between mixing, shaping, baking and just getting it all done, I didn’t get a chance to post or follow up like I’d planned… but I want to pause and say:

Thank you.

Thank you for the warm smiles at pickup. Thank you for supporting this little village bakery of mine. Thank you for every order, every kind word, and every time you choose to bring my bread into your home. This is all possible because of YOU. And I don’t take that lightly. Ever.

I even wrote a sweet little newsletter (first issue as a way of connecting more with you guys) for you this week… and guess what? I forgot to put it in the bags. 😅 Classic me. I’ll be saving that gem for next time — it was a good one, I promise.

✨ New Preorder Menu opens Friday at 10am! ✨
Pickups will be Wednesday, August 13 from 3-7pm as usual.
The menu will be condensed and limited because it’s my birthday week 🎉 and I’m carving out space for family time and a few exciting things I’m working on behind the scenes.

A little heads-up:
🥯 English Muffins will only be available this upcoming week (I will have them again in September for preorders). I’ll have lots for you to order and stock up.

Preorders close Sunday evening. Don’t miss it if you’ve been waiting on them! They freeze and reheat beautifully (instructions provided on the label) and most of you do stock up for the month.

Here’s what I’m baking for you this round:

🫶🏽 Plain Janes — our classic sourdough loaf. Trusty, tangy, and oh-so-loved.

🍞 Soft Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread

🥯 English Muffins — fluffy, tall and golden. You know the drill: these go fast!

🍑 Texas Sunset Peach Hand Pies — a flaky sourdough crust filled with slow-roasted Texas peach compote, kissed with cinnamon and brown sugar, then finished with a bright lemon-vanilla-cardamom glaze. It’s warm, golden, and just a little dreamy — like a sunset you can eat. 🌅
