The U.S. Senate approved a bill today that would make Daylight Savings permanent. It still must go thru the House & be signed by the President before it takes effect.

What's YOUR take on going to D.S.T. permanently? Three things to keep in mind:

1.) 65% of the year is already spent on D.S.T.

2.) Permanent D.S.T. would push sunrises back to around 8am for a time in December/January, although the sun would never set later than around 5:30pm during the period surrounding Winter Solstice (roughly around Dec. 21st)

2). Switching times twice a year was originally thought to save energy, which was a big reason why permanent D.S.T. was attempted back in the mid 1970s. However, that theory has long-since been debunked.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will be in effect for Adair, Barren, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Hardin, Hart, Larue, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell & Taylor counties from 12PM until 9PM Central Time. Bursts of snow showers will be possible this afternoon/evening that may reduce visibility & quickly cover roads/sidewalks, creating travel troubles for the homebound commute. If you encounter a burst of snow & experience these conditions, slow down and don't accelerate/brake/turn the wheel hard. You'll need to travel with caution AND with headlights/low beams on. Total additional snowfall accumulations from this will be up to an inch in spots. We'll post updates on the WBKO First Alert Weather app all morning & this afternoon!
