Update with new info from Tpr. Houck.

There were two separate pursuits...

See below

--------------------
Amanda Sanchez, 36, of Glasgow was arrested after a high-speed chase caused a four-car accident on Main Street in Tompkinsville.
According to KSP Public Officers Officer Houck, Tpr. Codie Ford attempted to stop her vehicle in Metcalfe County for speeding and failed to stop and drove down Hwy. 163 south at speeds over 120 mph.

Law enforcement deployed spike strips in an attempt to stop her car north of town and she ran across them but kept driving.

Once the officers reached the outside of the City limits, they terminated their pursuit as per policy, Houck added. ..

Tompkinsville Police Department CPT. Ty Hammer received radio traffic from Kentucky State Police Post 15 advising they had been involved in a vehicle pursuit on Highway 163. KSP advised the pursuit was terminated upon entering the city limits of Tompkinsville; however, the suspect vehicle continued to operate recklessly within the city limits at speeds exceeding 100 MPH.

CPT. Hammer observed the suspect vehicle enter the Taco Bell parking lot and exit through the rear driveway onto Columbia Avenue. Officers with the Tompkinsville Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit of the suspect vehicle on Columbia Avenue. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle reached speeds of approximately 80 MPH and was observed improperly passing two vehicles in a no-passing zone while facing oncoming traffic.

The suspect vehicle continued northbound on Columbia Avenue and subsequently collided with a stopped vehicle (being drive by Brian Rogers of Tompkinsville, at the intersection of Columbia Avenue and North Main Street then hit an SUV driven by Jo Rita Stephens, both traveling north. Stephens's vehicle was then pushed into the vehicle of Vickie Mutter.

Monroe County EMS responded to the scene and evaluated all involved parties. All injured individuals were transported to Monroe County Medical Center for treatment and were later released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sanchez was charged with Speeding (26 mph or greater speed limit), fleeing or evading police in the first degree (motor vehicle, enhanced), wanton endangerment (first degree), wanton endangerment (first degree, police officer), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance (second degree, agg.), improper passing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct (second degree), driving on a DUI suspended license. Her bond was set at $50,000 cash.

The incident is still under investigation with KSP Tpr. Dean Lunz investigating the accident.

As of 515 the section of N. Main St. where the accident is located is still impassable and most likely will remain close for quite some time the best choice for travel would be to take the bypass around the affected area The side streets that cars are being detoured on are very narrow

UPDATE - According to first responders on scene - there were no life threatening injuries in any of the involved vehicles. It was reported by those responders that the vehicle that precipitated the accident was fleeing from officers.

More information as it becomes available.
