Why is fear so critical?
Scripture reminded us that we were created in the image of God. He fashioned us from the dust of the ground and breathe in our nostril, and we became a living soul. There was no mention of fear, where did fear came from?, and why is it so critical and inhibit’s us to function in the way we are suppose to live; uninhibited and capable.
Fear, came about in two ways. 1) Disobedience to God instruction from eating from a particular tree, that was forbidden to eat from. 2) The interference of the Old Dragon, the Devil. Who intended to unseat God and rule in His stead.
As a child growing up, I was privileged to lived with my Grandmother for a few years. She was famous in using metaphors as a guide and instruction along life’s journey. (Hard ears children goes to bed hungry), in others words children who didn’t listen will go to bed lacking something to eat. Here, because of hard of hearing; we the children of God came up short or lacking. We listened to the wrong voice and disobeyed our Heavenly Father’s instruction. Therefore, we allowed Satan to invade our sovereignty and the consequences of our actions resulted in being kicked out of the Garden; (Food already provided) and had to fend for ourselves. Scripture states, By the sweat of our brow, we shall eat bread. Henceforth, fear was able to become apart of our DNA.
According to John 10:10
King James Version
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Let us look at the three descriptive words that describe the thief; specifically referring to Satan.
1) Steal: take (another person's property) without permission
2) kill: to deprive of life : cause the death of
3) Destroy: to ruin the structure, organic existence, or condition of
These three words can be summarize into one word; FEAR!
Any person that exists or ever existed and has never experienced fear during any of these three experiences are considered a liar. Someone you once had a relationship with, whether platonic or romantic. And was ever betrayed, has encountered fear. Just the mere fact of endeavoring to smear your character or even reveal a personal conversation, causes anxiety, discomfort and dissatisfaction, will and often times causes fear.
Fear is inevitable, as I previously mentioned it was itched in our DNA. We were born in Sin and shaped in iniquity. The most minute and insignificant thing causes fear, for example, the shadow of an object projected by light. An unexpected incident; of someone walking in the opposite direction of you in an hall-way or ally that you had no idea someone would be walking by, the same time as you. An unusual sound or scream.
Fear by itself can cause bodily harm or inflict emotional distress and anxiety in your body or mind. Fear can kill you. The cares of life causes fear. ICE rampant surge in arresting and detaining people irrespective of ethnicity, religion, race, gender, social status cause fear. Folks are afraid of heights, water, certain foods, bridges, relationships, animals, insects, neighborhoods and the list goes on. Fear is detrimental to humanity on a whole.
Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7-8 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
I want to point out that God did not gives us a spirit of fear. Note here, that fear do exist and it is a spirit. The scripture never said, there was no fear, it said, God was not the one that give us fear. What God gives and I keep it in the present tense. The Spirit of Power, Spirit of Love & of a Sound Mind.
I caution you today to be vigilant not allowing fear to cripple you. Even though it is with it exist you can resist fear for it is a spirit. God bless you. Bishop Z
