Exploring Bolzano in South Tyrol is incredible!
This is the heart of Europe's largest contiguous apple-growing sector.
Here, I've had the privilege of attending Interpoma, the world's only trade fair dedicated solely to apples
I'm discovering new varieties
and gaining insights into innovative orcharding techniques & technology.
In the region there is approximately 18,400 hectares of apple orchards, managed by around over 6,000 family-run farms, each averaging 2.5 to 3 hectares. These farms contribute to an annual harvest of about 950,000 tonnes, supplying 50% of Italy's apples and 15% of Europe's.
