Here's the update:

About 9:30 a.m. an unknown substance was found in a girl's bathroom at Deseret Peak High School.

Tooele City Police tested the substance. It was found to be co***ne.

Three people appeared to be affected by the substance, two faculty members and one student. One faculty member went home, the other went to a hospital. The student went home with parents.

Other than the above there were no reported health incidents or overdoses.

Ambulance, police, health department and other first responders were at the school. A few police have remained to help with traffic.

School was scheduled to be dismissed at 11:30 today-which it was-the early dismissal had nothing to do with this incident.

From the Tooele County School District. We will post updates when the school district confirms any information:

Deseret Peak is currently in a Secure Protocol
November 18, 2025 at 10:35 a.m.

This means all exterior doors are locked, and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building. Inside, classes and activities continue as normal. A Secure Protocol is a precautionary measure used to safeguard everyone inside the building.

Families have been sent a message through ParentSquare with more detailed information. When the Secure Protocol is cleared, this page will be updated.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
