Caught up with comic artist Keith Williams at Super Jersey Comic Expo and asked him about his defining moment. His answer took me straight into comic book history, being part of the first Black editorial team at Marvel, working on Web of Spider-Man. Then I asked one more question: if everyone he’s ever worked with was in one room, who’s he running to first? Will Eisner, the man who taught him. Two questions, two answers I didn’t expect.

Y’all have been telling me Kliff hates me for months.

So I walked into Paradox Comics and caught him filming a video with somebody else…

And he looked SO MUCH HAPPIER. 😭

I needed to process this somehow, so I went to the Wayne Toy Show and explained the situation to am my favorite toy vendor using Hasbro wrestling figures.

Jake the Snake.
H***y Tonk Man.
Jimmy Snuka.

I think the toy guy thought I was insane. 💀

I bought the Snuka anyway.

Then I found ALF.

And honestly? I think I’ve found my new friend.

Thanks to Paradox Comics and the Wayne Toy Show for letting me continue making questionable decisions in your spaces. 😂

Barbara Friedlander is the first woman to ever create a character for DC Comics… Scooter, from Swing With Scooter in 1966. She didn’t expect to get credit, because that’s just not how it worked back then. Talking to her about the moment she realized she could actually do this work. Watch to the end.

I showed up before the comic shop owner… AGAIN.

So I brought coffee.

Things escalated.

Hammerfist. Questionable 80s cards. A kid trying to weigh Pokémon cards. And, naturally, I had to show Kliff the Wolverine tattoo.

John Romita Jr. was ready to leave the comics industry.

Then Ralph Macchio and Ann Nocenti came to him with an offer to work on Daredevil , and give him a bigger role in being a part of creating the story.

He told me that moment changed everything.

And his advice about how to deal with people who p**s you off? Don’t fight with your words. Fight with your work.

I finally went to The Tattoo Guild in Boonton, NJ for the hairiest Wolverine tattoo ever.

Wolverine’s chest hair is literally my arm hair.
