Beer & a Book
Tonight only—Thursday December 8, 5:30-7:30 pm,
have a brew with author Kathy Bergren Smith of Galesville
and learn about the deadliest sailing day on Chesapeake Bay

Smith's brand-new book,
Deadly Gamble
recounts the tragic meeting of hurricane Connie
and Levin J Marvel, a 128-foot commercial sailing vessel
converted to "dude cruising."
The 68-year-old ship was no match for the hurricane;
perhaps no ship would have been.
Fourteen died when the ship broke apart in Herring Bay.
Another 13 survived,
most rescued by heroic citizens of the town of North Beach.

Join the engaging storyteller over a local craft beer for the full story and signing of Deadly Gamble
