🚨 2026 Race Season: Early Prep & Big Life Updates 🚨
Summer may have just kicked off, but now’s actually a great time to start talking with local businesses about supporting the 2026 race season. 🏁
Blue Lane Media wrapped up the 2025 season with about $100 left in the account — and honestly, that’s a big win. For the second year in a row, I’ve covered these races while unemployed (and technically, I still am). All funds from Blue Lane go straight into equipment, transportation, and software — nothing more, nothing less.
📍 A Few Big Changes:
1️⃣ Iowa Bound
Our family recently made the move from Northern Utah to Iowa so my wife can pursue her Master’s degree. I’m incredibly proud of her — but it does mean travel will be harder for me. Without an understanding employer or support to cover travel, I’ll need help with setup and tear-down at races. I can still announce remotely, but nothing beats being there in person. We had an amazing volunteer at the last race, and that in-person energy — doing interviews, mingling — is hard to replicate online.
2️⃣ Accidents & Setbacks
Just before the move, our SUV was hit while parked on a 25mph road — and totaled. Liberty Mutual has been... less than helpful, undervaluing it by $3,000. To top it off, a windstorm near Bear Lake took down a tree, which fell on the trailer I used for race weekends. We’re still waiting on insurance to decide what they’ll cover.
So yeah — a lot going on.
👀 Looking Ahead
The third season of Blue Lane Media is at risk. Whether or not we can continue depends on the commitment of volunteers and sponsors. That’s why I’m opening up pledges now — not collecting funds yet, just gauging support to ensure we can pull off a successful season. If we can lock in that support early, we can start planning with confidence.
