In case you missed it. . .
From the Neighbors of Trent Woods Magazine (September 2025):
Bangert is excited to welcome back Jeff Cullipher to the crossing guard position. Jeff has done this before, but now that he is fully retired from International Paper it will be much easier with his schedule. For the past few years the Trent Woods Police Department has been filling in, and they have done a wonderful job. The police officers will still be around helping and supporting Bangert, but this will free them up to do other things during the arrival and dismissal times each day.
Bangert has a long history with having a crossing guard. Billy Joiner did it for many years and became a fixture at the front of the school. He developed relationships with the students who came to school as walkers or bikers. The Bangert community as a whole looked forward to seeing him each morning and afternoon. When he retired Jeff Cullipher helped for a while until it became too hard to juggle the crossing guard job and his job at International Paper. Jeff loves building relationships with the students and he hopes to leave an impression on them as they go through Bangert and onto middle and high school. He would like the Trent Woods community to “Be happy, slow down, and watch for children.” The front of Bangert is busy with bikers and walkers, but it is also where the school buses load and unload. Jeff is there to help.
Why does Jeff Cullipher do this when he could be enjoying retirement doing many other things? He says, “I am a community service guy, and I like doing this for the people of Trent Woods. The kids always put a smile on my face, and I do this for the enjoyment it gives me and what I can give back to our community.”
Thanks, Jeff!
