Here we have a throwback to the beginning of Ted and Rudy’s German American program. Not sure of the year but they started in July of 1974 and my dad had a mustache 2 years later.
The second photo is likely in Trenton, maybe the Heritage Days festival but importantly it has Dr John Berish (sp?) on the left and next to my father looks to be his boss and owner of Coronis Building Systems, Emmanuel (Manny). Don’t know the gentleman on the far right.
The last picture still hangs in my parents basement, one of the early advertisements of the German Program.
I forgot that the show originally started at 11, it moved to 10am-noon and 12:30 so long ago.

My mother, top left next to Hannelore, celebrated her birthday yesterday.
Mathilde (Hilde) has been the backbone of the German American shows and of much of my father’s work in the German American community. From sending letters to sponsors, selling tickets, putting a program book together, selecting the songs for the radio show and doing the billing to keeping dad organized for his duties, she was always busy behind the scenes.
Please join me in wishing her a happy birthday.

The German Heritage Festival was one of many cultural festivals held at the Garden State Arts Center. They were nonprofit and supported programs for senior citizens. Many other ethnicities had events but my dad was proud that the German Festival was one of the largest and well attended.
The Governors of New Jersey supported the arts and programs and always issued a proclamation that it was German Heritage day for that day in New Jersey. Here I have a few examples.

My father MC’d, helped find or plan talent at many different festivals over the years.
Here he is with Steve Huber’s Happy Austrians and Conny Dellner’s Egerland Kapelle at Action Park in Vernon, NJ.
The second picture is of Steve and Conny.
They had a great atmosphere and brewed their own beer. I believe we have some glasses or mugs still. I went on a bus trip my parents organized and it was a great time.

Peter Jauss was kind enough to share information and pictures of the Auswanderer Denkmal in Bremerhaven. I will have to post some pictures of my parents departure from there as well. My father supported many causes and he’s listed here through the family and radio show, and again from the German Heritage Festival at the Garden State Arts Center.
