I’d like to thank all the clubs that work to keep our German heritage alive.

I am able to contribute occasionally with all the items my father has and here is an example where we have a book from 1997 that discusses Germans in America and all the different clubs that were active at the time.

Of the many awards my dad received, there is one I was honored to receive as well.
In 1990 the German American Police Association or GAPA with President Al Pfeiffer honored my father.
In 2011 after my father passed, Jim Schwartz looked forward and honored me for continuing the German Program on the radio and the assumption that I would support the German Community.
Well, I’ve been broadcasting the show for 16 years now and I appreciated that vote of confidence and support. It meant a lot.

Next Sunday the Philadelphia Donauschwaben will have their Tag der Donauschwaben Danube Swabian - Philadelphia.
I’m sorry I’ll be driving my son to college but I’d like to share an award that my father received 25 years ago. This is from the National Donauschwaben association. Very nice to always see dad’s hard work recognized. Also my mother should get credit because she really made it all possible as well.

It’s sad to hear Mr Rudy Bayer passed away this past week. He and Frieda Bayer were good friends with my parents. He even sponsored me when I joined the CVV.
Attached I believe are pictures from the Take It Easy Restaurant section. You can see the Bayers seated with my dad standing and talking. Bruno Karnas is standing the back and laughing.
I also see in the second photo Hans Schmitz to the right, in the middle is Pete Spildener from the GAK, and on the left are Hilde Bernard, Irmgard Blaschke, Rosi Sawadski which were old Arbeiter friends.
I guess dad invited people out and friends came either for the opening of the bar or an event. There are friends from Trenton and Philly here, a snapshot of another fun night.

Well they didn’t back in 94, I was at Giants stadium with my dad when they lost to Bulgaria. Lots of great players on that team though.

They did win it all in 2014 and hopefully will soon again.

For tomorrow’s show we pulled out a CD which I’ve never seen before. Luckily they had the text inside because their dialect is so strong I couldn’t understand them. How good is your Platt?
