ARRESTS MADE IN CONNECTION TO SUNDAY EVENING SHOOTING
Two people have been arrested following a shooting Sunday, Aug. 16, in Humboldt that police say stemmed from a narcotics transaction that went wrong.
According to a release from the Humboldt Police Department, officers investigated a shooting in the area of South 19th Avenue and Burrow Street. Three individuals were shot and subsequently ran to the area of Maple Street and North 19th Avenue, where they were located and airlifted for emergency medical treatment. All three victims were reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators found illegal narcotics and multiple shell casings at the crime scene. During the investigation, police determined the shooting occurred during a narcotics purchase in which two fi****ms were displayed, leading to gunfire and injuries, according to the department.
Investigators identified two individuals who allegedly possessed fi****ms during the incident: a 15-year-old juvenile and 22-year-old Quandurius Campbell. Campbell had active arrest warrants out of Milan at the time of the shooting and has a prior felony conviction.
Campbell was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with attempted aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a juvenile.
The investigation was conducted by the Humboldt Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division with assistance from the 28th Judicial District Attorney's investigator and the United States Marshals Task Force. The case remains active, and police said additional charges may be forthcoming as evidence is reviewed.
