Misalignment rarely comes from a lack of effort. Most people show up ready to strain for the mission, but hard work pointed off target still lands miles away from the objective.

It may be hard for service members in their 20s to contemplate this now…but the people you are serving with now will be in your life forever. Tonight I reunited with my old friend after 30 years and laughed so hard the rest of the bar thought we may vomit on the floor (we didn’t). Just remember that even if you only serve for 4 years, you’ll have lifetime friends. He reminded me of stories I have long forgotten. “Get me a bird, I’m outta here!” He also reminded me at one point the two of us (and may others) were once the Tip of the Spear. Sf Marines.
