TRINIDAD, COLORADO————————We all have a family member, friend, co-worker, or neighbor thats is battling or has battled some type of cancer, we all just want to kick cancer on the back side or give it a straight punch to the mouth. The Las Animas County Relay for Life group has been helping local people we all know and love battle this horrible disease for years.
Last Saturday The Las Animas County Relay for Life held its 2016 Kickoff event at the Las Animas County Fairgrounds Expo Center with the “Relay Rally” brings us together fun and awareness.
“We had a lot of fun, we have survivors, friends and family who have lost loved ones here today to show their passion and support all who have been hit and hurt by this horrible thing called cancer.” Kendra Doherty a local organizer for the Las Animas County Relay for Life said during the Relay Rally. “We have an amazing time, we had fun and most importantly we came together to support each other. I just can’t thank everyone who donated, volunteered, and came out for our kickoff rally.”
The event featured a volleyball tourney, bounce house by Candy Party Rentals, a Trinidad Fire Department Chili Cookoff, corn hole toss, Cassie Kitchen food wagon, DJ Brandon Ritz and Dance Connection.
Doherty added, “Las Animas County Relay for Life would like to thank our Trinidad Fire Department, all of our sponsors, the families and the girls from Dance Connection, Cassie’s Kitchen, Mr Ritz, all of our sponsors Tom Davis, Dave (Santistevan)/E.R.A. McCarthy/Jay Martinez from AroundUSCorp., our Relay for Life team here, KCRT Radio and all of our great volunteers cause without you, we could not do this. THANK YOU!!

TRINIDAD, COLORADO————————The call of “El Corazon” was hear loud and clear last Saturday to kick off World Autism Awareness Week locally. The Trinidad Colorado Autism Awarness Chapter is also selling corsages and boutonnieres and the chapter will held a “Light it up Blue” bake sale, Saturday April 2, 2016 at the Trinidad Safeway in celebration of World Autism Day.
How can you “Light it up Blue Trinidad”, well you can replace clear lightbulbs with blue ones at your house or business. Give your social media a blue hue. Tweet, Instagram, Facebook it, and Think about it. Wear blue this Saturday and all week to show your support for Autism.
Autism asks Be You! Be Uniquely Blue! Accept! Love! Support! Educate! Advocate!
The Trinidad Colorado Autism Awareness Chapter is also selling corsages for $12.00 and boutonnieres for $12.00 each to raise money for the local chapter.
Linda Thompson with the local Trinidad Autism Awareness Chapter added, “Well it is that time of year, let’s show our support for autism!! Let’s Light it up and wear Blue this week.”
Autism Awarness groups meet every Thursday at 6 p.m. at Mr. Carmel Wellness Center with Parent discussions. Also PTSD, ADD and ADHD behavior issues.
