STOWE BOWL OPENS TO PUBLIC TODAY

Stowe Bowl opened its doors to the public today. The new portion of the Sun & Ski Inn and Suites hotel in Stowe is an eight-lane bowling venue with its own entrance.

Neither the bowling facility nor its menu are "bowling alley typical." Retro-style seating and wooden coffee tables are part of the decor. And, the menu ranges from small plates offerings to burgers and flatbreads. In addition, it has a line of nine draft beers, mostly locally made.

Stowe Bowl is the brainchild of Mark and Rachel Vandenberg, who renovated the hotel last year, expanding it from 15 to 39 rooms and adding the bowling component, open to both guests and walk-ins.

BLUE STONE OPENS 2nd LOCATION TODAY

Vinny Petrarca and Chris Fish today opened their second Blue Stone location, this one in Waitsfield. It will mirror the original in Waterbury as to menu, brick oven cookery, specials, etc., but without the actual signature stone.

The new location, 5351 Main Street, formerly was home to Akes' Den. It has 16 beers on tap -- three less than the Waterbury original, but soon to be expanded to 24. It also makes liberal use of regionally-sourced foods.
